Metropolitan is a 1990 American romantic comedy-drama film about the lives of a group of wealthy young socialites during debutante season in Manhattan. I didn't care for this one even though it was nominated for and won some awards and reviews are almost always positive. I watched it on Max.
trailer:
Criterion calls it "One of the great American independent films of the 1990s". Robert Ebert gives it 3.5 out of 4 stars. 93% of Rotten Tomatoes critics give it a positive review.
*******
We don't see them on the patio, of course, but we do see them circling overhead:
I haven't watched it but you aren't the only one who wasn't impressed. It had a less than 2 stars on Netflix. Sometimes there are movies that the critics like but nobody else does--lol! I think immediately of Birdman. Won Oscars and I thought it sucked and was just beyond stupid, to be perfectly honest. I even liked several of the actors in it, too. Such is life. ;)
I don't know this film, but I have seen vultures around a lot lately. Not in my yard though, but I have seen them on my walks on my road. Happy Sunday.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
...I know the Nash Metropolitan sold from 1953 until 1961. The earth would be a messy place without scavengers.
ReplyDeleteScavengers are The Best! They are especially striking sights in the air.

ReplyDeleteIt may've just passed its prime now, idk... Some of my FB friends liked it.
DeleteAh, the cleaner uppers of the roads!
ReplyDeleteI'm always excited to see them in the city.

ReplyDeleteThey've taken up residence in my neighborhood. I hadn't noticed much road kill 'til I started seeing the vultures.
DeleteGreat blog
ReplyDeleteYet another film which passed me by! Valerie
ReplyDeleteMe, too. It's not really my "thing" so maybe that's why...
DeleteI’ll pass on that movie. That bird is not real 😉🤣 - CJ
ReplyDeleteBut the batteries are holding up well, unlike those court square pigeons ;)
DeleteI've never seen this one...
ReplyDeleteIt was new to me, too.
DeleteI've not heard of this film, but vultures are needed because they clean up the roadkill left behind. I thought that was a great photo.
ReplyDeleteWe're always excited to see the vultures. The Younger Son took the photo.
