More Money Than Sense
If you are willing to pay $2000 for a pair of shoes, then yes, I think you have more money than sense. Brooks Brothers has the pair shown above for the bargain price of $1225. That's over a thousand dollars for a pair of shoes. Wow!
The photo came from the Brooks Brothers site.

...but they _are_ handsome shoes.
ReplyDelete--A Pal
i don't think i've ever paid more than $100 for a pair of shoes, and they were running shoes. lol
DeleteSorry (a) Pal. I'm a gal who would not be seen with any guy wearing those ugly brown shoes. It's hard to account for taste (grin).
ReplyDeletethey remind me of the 2-toned saddle oxfords i had when i was little. i would wear a pair now if i had them, but not at those prices!
DeleteDon't I feel silly. Recently purchased two pairs from Payless for $20.
ReplyDeletelol, yes, that's much more along the lines i'm looking for.
DeleteGlad no one in my house shops at Brooks Brothers.
ReplyDeleteDarla
indeed! at their website, the cheapest piece of women's clothing (not counting hose or jewelry) is a tank top on sale for $35. that's just a bit above my willingness ti pay ;)
DeleteI like them. 1225 is a bit much, but I wouldn´t stop until I came to 500 or 600, if it really was a good shoe. I payed more than 450 dollars for a pair of winter boots more than ten years ago. They are still around, looking as good as when I bought them, keeping my feet perfectly warm at -35 C. I have another pair of handsewn boots that are equally wonderful. In shoes, you really get what you pay for, in my experience. And nothing beats leather and fur in the cold. But perhaps it´s also that I have funny shaped feet and walk everywhere (have no car).
ReplyDeletei don't mind paying more for walking shoes, but i can get new balance shoes that work great for me for around $100. i'm afraid i tend to kick off shoes and go barefooted every chance i get, it gets cold here, but not nearly as cold as where you are! i'd invest more on winter foot gear if it did. brrrrr!
DeleteD&S,
ReplyDeleteI just went to the BB website and I'm cracking up over the description for these shoes, here's part of it: "Each pair is Goodyear welted for an unrivaled comfort and durability. And each pair is hand-cut from the finest full-grain calf leathers, finally hand-polished into a deep, burnished finish that only improves with time. Genuine leather with contrasting canvas detailing. Goodyear welted. Leather lining. Tone-on-tone stitching. Each pair includes an Edward Green cedar shoe tree and flannel shoe bag. Made in England. " This reminds me of the parody of the Williams Sonoma catalog and if you haven't seen it please go there now. I hope you will find it as hilarious as I did: http://deadspin.com/5959212/the-haters-guide-to-the-williams+sonoma-catalog
lol! yes, i got a kick out of their commentary.
Deletehave you seen the j. peterman catalog? i never bought anything from them because of the high prices, but i always wanted to just to support their writers. this dress, for example: http://www.jpeterman.com/Womens-Things/Jaisalmer-Dress has this to say: ""Great talk you gave at the P.E.N. meeting."
"We have twelve of your wonderful pots."
"Terrific about the Oscar for Best Documentary. Don't you think?"
People inevitably make assumptions about you based on how you dress, so why not wear things that nudge them in interesting directions."
sometimes the descriptions are better than the product can ever be.
