Your Luck Is About To Change

Your Luck Is About To Change is a poem by Susan Elizabeth Howe. You can read it here. It begins
“Your Luck Is About To Change”
by Susan Elizabeth Howe
(A fortune cookie)

Ominous inscrutable Chinese news
to get just before Christmas,
considering my reasonable health,
marriage spicy as moo-goo-gai-pan,
career running like a not-too-old Chevrolet.
Not bad, considering what can go wrong:
...
You'll need to read the entire poem to understand why it reminds me of this story I recently saw about a dragon nativity scene. There's more coverage of the story at BoingBoing.

    1. ikr? And in the name of Jesus they sent that anonymous judgmental missive. I don't think they realize that theirs was the greater offense against the spirit of Christmas. We are looking forward to a wonderful Christmas :) I wish you all the peace and joy of the season :)

  2. I heard the dragon story earlier. Made me laugh because the creche in my home is non-traditional. Some people are just not happy unless they complain.

    1. Some people think their way is the only way. It boggles the mind.

  3. Every tradition has to start somewhere, and tolerance is a big virtue. Every single one of us is different, and thinks and handles differently, and we have no call to be slamming others for their views and ideas. Have a great day, do what you want and be happy! Valerie

    1. That's what I think :) I'm wondering about the poor woman who made the anonymous complaint. She needs more fun and variety in her life.

  4. A friend of mine once had a Christmas spider, as her Halloween decorations were still up at Christmas!
Hope you have a joyful Christmas.

    1. I have a bunch of plastic green onions on my tree. To each his or her own, right? :)

  5. How fun to read about the dragons. SO glad the lady wasn't bullied into removing them. It takes all kinds to make this world and everyone in America has a right to their own beliefs. But they should also be respectful of others. I see why you chose that poem.

I am sure I'll visit you for Christmas, but will still wish you a lovely day, regardless. Merry Christmas, dear friend.

    1. That's exactly how I feel :) We have different ways of expressing ourselves, and the dragons weren't hurting anybody. Tame dragons ;)
