I thought I've seen most of Wayne's Westerns, but I don't recall this one. Started watching the opening credits. A cast of Ford favorites Mildred Natwick, Ben Johnson <3 I'll have to make time for this today
ReplyDeleteIt surprised me, too! I found it when I discovered that it was based on the same novel as Tokyo Godfathers.
DeleteThank you for posting this. Himself and I just watched it tonight. I really enjoyed it though Ben Johnson needed a bigger part :-D
DeleteBen Johnson _always_ needs a bigger part lol He was an actual cowboy and knew what he was doing.
DeleteI haven't seem this yet. Will see if I can make time to watch!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
I think it makes a nice change from the usual Christmas movies.
DeleteI think I will pass on this one, my built-in Grinch is restless. Valerie
ReplyDeletelol! I understand. Sometimes the wall-to-wall Christmas entertainment is a bit much. Time for Die Hard maybe? ;)
DeleteI might try to watch this, but I WILL watch Die Hard on Christmas. It's by far the best Christmas movie ever!!!
ReplyDeleteI join you in calling Die Hard a Christmas movie. My husband doesn't agree with us ;)
DeleteI'll try to convince your husband on Saturday when I do a Saturday at the Movies like CJ and Kathy do.
DeleteMaybe you'll have better luck than I've had lol I get a kick out of noticing some obscure bit of Christmas in a movie and declaring it a Christmas movie. He doesn't buy it ;)
DeleteI remember seeing this as a kid. I am sure I missed out on a lot at that "tender age." It is not the usual Ford/Wayne fare. I'll make time for the whole thing soon.

It's not typical Jon Wayne, I agree. It's fun for the season :)
DeleteYou can't go wrong with John Wayne or John Ford. Oh the wild west and the wide open spaces. I think the holiday hoopla is starting to get to me. :) Happy Holidays. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteJohn Ford, yes! I definitely feel the need for Christmas entertainment that's a bit off the beaten track :)
DeleteWhen I read the title I thought oh no not a Christmas mob hit ... (col).
ReplyDeleteMy Father in Law would have liked, he was a hug John Wayne fan.
lol! There's probably a Christmas movie out there featuring the mob. There just has to be.
DeleteI usually do not care much for most of John Wayne's movies but I had forgotten all about this one. I remember watching this one Saturday afternoon as a kid and enjoying it. They often showed westerns on Saturday afternoons and I remember this one with the baby was different than most. ;)
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to find a John Wayne western with a Christmas connection :) There's an older adaptation of that novel, and I need to track it down
DeleteI love westerns and remember watching this one 😁. It captures the season wonderfully and is both sensitive and emotional - very heart-shaped warming! Enjoy your day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteYes! It's not something you can usually say about westerns, is it lol
