That’s a great line.
ReplyDeleteYes! A shady veranda in the southern summer :) Sweet!
DeleteI need to check this song out. I am not familiar with it. Happy almost end of 2018. I can't believe it. Are you ready for 2019? Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteIt does feel shocking, how fast this year has passed! I'm trying to decide on a couple of new things to do this year, and I hope I can be consistent with that :)
DeleteI don't know this song or singer at all, must have missed it. Valerie
ReplyDeleteHe was active into the 1980s. He's best known for writing the music (but not the lyrics) for Stardust, Georgia on My Mind, The Nearness of You, and Heart and Soul. Brilliant!
DeleteI've heard of Hoagy Carmichael, but never this song. Brilliant. You find some of the best music that references Memphis.
ReplyDeleteMemphis is frequently mentioned in song. There are long lists out there, and I just go back to them every once in a while :)
DeleteI had heard of him but can't think of what I had heard by him. It wasn't this one because I didn't recognize it at all. Nice hot summer some. :)
ReplyDeleteHe was prolific and active in film/radio/tv. I enjoyed this reminder of southern summertime ;) even though our highs are reaching the upper 50s and into the 60s so it's not exactly a frozen winter wonderland here lol
DeleteI love the Memphis reference and the lyrics are beautiful, conjuring up a scene in my head of what Memphis is like in June - perfect 😁. Enjoy your day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteI couldn't find a Memphis connection when I looked a bit at his life, so I was happy he chose to mention us in a song :) It's chilly here today (a high in the mid 40sF expected) but sunny. I'll watch the patio birds and drink coffee :) Hope your day is good :)
