The Taming of the Shrew is a 1929 film adaptation of Shakespeare's play. This stars Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks. It is the first sound film adaptation of this play and Pickford's second sound film.
I like this Shakespeare kick you are on. Now I don't have time to watch this as the furnace cleaning person is due to arrive and I must get my shower in, but this is one of my favorite plays of his. Anne Tyler wrote a novel based on this story, wish I could remember the title. It's a modern version. I can't say I loved it but lots of folks in my book club did. Happy Wednesday!
Vinegar Girl. I googled it lol And I like her writing, so I'll look for it, thx :)
I'm still on the Shakespeare kick, but I've decided to schedule them so they're not appearing here so frequently lol I love seeing how different they can be while being exactly the same.
Somehow I never got into Shakespeare. I'm not even sure we studied him in school. I fear I'm a slug when it comes to his plays. I would never be able to answer any trivial questions involving his works.
I enjoy the stories on film but not as much reading them. We had to memorize a few passages in school. I wouldn't pass a test on him these days, though.
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.

Your surprised me when I saw the title, I thought this was going to be the Burton-Taylor film. Shakespeare talkies! How cool!

ReplyDeleteIt was new to me. I'm surprised by how many Shakespeare films there are!
DeleteLast night's re-run of the Big Bang Theory had Leonard & Pira quoting from The Taming of the Screw.
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves that show. He was sorry to see it end, but I guess it was time.
