The Music Man is an award-winning 1962 musical film. I've always liked this one. It's such a feel-good, positive story. It stars Robert Preston (who is worth your time in anything in which he appears), Shirley Jones, Buddy Hackett, Hermione Gingold, Ronny Howard, and Paul Ford. I watched it on HBO Max.

Common Sense Media gives it 5 out of 5 stars. Rotten Tomatoes has a critics consensus score of 94%.

...another classic.
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI don't care much for musicals though there are a few I enjoy. This is one of them. While the songs are memorable, the salesmen in the train is uber clever. Great cast, too.
ReplyDeleteI tend to like musicals, but I agree this one's a stand-out.
DeleteI liked this one! Happy weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteOne we can definitely agree on.
DeleteA classic really. Haven't seen it for decades. Definitely worth seeing. :)
ReplyDeleteMe, too. It had been _decades_!
DeleteRobert Preston. Sigh. I love this movie.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Robert Preston's presence lifts any film to an entirely different level.
DeleteMy kids did this one in high school. I have fond memories!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a fun one for a school or community theater!
DeleteI've seen the play, but I'm not sure if I've ever seen the film. I think you watched Willow on Disney+. We just started it, and I'm trying to decide what I think. Happy rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had found Willow when the kids were little. That there's a sequel series now is the only reason I watched it now, but I'm glad to've seen it.
DeleteGreat movie, perfect casting, and wonderful music, always feel better for watching it.
ReplyDeleteThose feel-good movies are good to have :)
DeleteI saw this on TV years ago, and I LOVED it.
ReplyDeleteMe, too. I've never seen it in a movie theater.
