I'm trying to find as many of Shakespeare's plays watchable online as I can. It's an interesting little project. I've seen two with Jeremy Brett so far, and he is just delightful doing Shakespeare.
Leslie Howard as Romeo and Juliet as a movie in the 1930s, even if he was a little long in the tooth. And another 1930s classic, Midsommer Night's Dream with Baby Mickey Rooney as Puck. In 1973, Richard Chamberlain did Hamlet for Hallmark Hall of Fame. Awesome! Though they've never repeated it or had a tape or DVD for sale )-: There were online broadcasts from the RSC with David Tennant. Hamlet, Richard II He's excellent, too.
I have to be able to focus clearly and intently to watch Shakespeare and am in no shape right now or in the foreseeable immediate future so I shall pass. (May have already seen this long ago.)
I do enjoy so many of the BBC productions. My favorite older series is I, Claudius. It's where I fell in love with Derek Jacobi--LOL! (He was excellent in the Cadfael series, too.)
I like Shakespeare too 😀. Our local cinema often show Shakespeare plays which are broadcast live from theatres so we can go and watch them - yay! Enjoy your week! Jo x
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
I've seen Gray in lots of things, but never knew who he was.

I've liked all the BBC ones.
DeleteI think this would be a good play to see. I liked reading it back in the day.
ReplyDeleteThe first time I saw a Shakespeare play was a revelation. Reading plays has never made much sense for me.

If I'm familiar with the story I don't have to focus as much as I do for something unfamiliar.
DeleteI remember watching I, Claudius when it came out. Quite shocking, as I recall. I love Cadfael. We have that series on DVD.

ReplyDeleteThat's such a cool idea! We get an actual play put on here but not very often
