is a 10-minute TED Talk. "Explore the intertwined histories and cultures of the major religions: Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islam."
As we approach a new year, I hope we can approach each other with peace and an attempt at understanding.
I'll definitely raise a glass of cheer to that idea. We are more alike than we are different ...
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree!
DeleteSadly, I don’t think we’ve evolved enough for this concept, yet
ReplyDeletePeople get so _angry_ and then violent. It is sad :(
DeleteI was appalled by the shootings over the weekend that targeted religion and triggered backlashes across the country. To me, these are attacks of domestic violence and should be treated as such. I used to wonder if I could see peace in my lifetime, now I wonder if I will get by without a war on my own soil.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was in high school, I learned about these religions and their differences and similarities. I even had to write a book report on them. It's amazing how we all come from the same place, yet some see "us" versus "them" when it comes to religion. This was a great video and I thank you for sharing it, dear.
It is appalling. Why we can't live and let live is beyond me.
Delete...and three have a common origin.
ReplyDeleteIt makes for an interesting study.
DeleteI agree. Seems like intolerant people are everywhere lately. I don't get it. We are the land of the free where all religions can flourish, right? Or a least I thought that. It would be a happy new year to see so much less violence. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteToo many people setting themselves up as judge :(
DeleteA lovely video. I have learned bits and pieces of all these religions over the years and this was beautifully put together. I have always wished we could just get along and that there was more love and compassion in the world. All the religions tell us that is what we are supposed to be trying to do. Let's hope people will stand up and fight for love and understanding in 2020. There have been people who have in the past but we need more of them. :)
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be wonderful!
DeleteGood idea. I wrote about the philosophies of the 'BIG 5' for my doctorate, but I needed more than 10 minutes! Valerie
