Joe's Restaurant

Joe's Restaurant was our choice for a place to eat out in September. We went there on Labor Day. The exterior is nothing special:

but the food is:

I had the catfish plate, as did The Daughter. The Husband had the country ham plate, and The Son-in-Law had the pork tenderloin. The Younger Son had a cheeseburger. The menu had options enough to suit everybody, including steaks, a couple of Italian dishes, salads, vegetables...

We were seated in a glassed-in room that was quite comfortable with plenty of light.

Service was great. I had enough fish left over for The Husband to save for supper that night. The Daughter brought donuts for dessert:

What a fun family holiday!

  2. Many years ago, I had a blind date with a Naval officer. He gave me some good advice. He said "You never get a bad meal at a steakhouse or a chart house." I've never had catfish, but your plate looks good. Love the hush puppy side, too.

    1. Yes! Around here if the catfish plates don't come with hush puppies I don't trust the restaurant to do fried catfish right ;)

  5. I like the room with all the large windows - bright & cheerful. It's nice to have a meal out & then enough left over to enjoy a second time at home ... for me it's always the extra treat of not having to come up with something for dinner (col). I've had Hush Puppies & laughed at the history of them. When one of my sisters lived in Tennessee she learnt very quickly how to make.

    1. Yes, I was quite pleased when they seated us there. Hush puppies are one of the delights in life lol I've never made them, but I remember Mother making them while explaining where the name came from. So funny!

  7. The catfish looks delicious, and the hush puppies look pretty good, too. I'm not a big fan of hush puppies, but there are certain things they just go perfect with, like deep fried fish.

  8. It sounds like a great family time. I have never eaten catfish but I love fried fish and it sure looks good. And were those hushpuppies on your plate? I love hushpuppies and you can't get them anywhere up here in the north. And who can refuse a donut? Happy T day. hugs-Erika
