The Man on the Eiffel Tower is a 1950 film noir mystery film directed by Burgess Meredith and starring Charles Laughton as Inspector Maigret. It is based on the 1931 novel La TĂȘte d'un homme (A Man's Head) by Belgian writer Georges Simenon featuring his detective Jules Maigret. A fine Maigret representation, it's enjoyable to watch. It's available free on Tubi, on Freevee on Amazon Prime, or embedded below via Daily Motion:

ReplyDeleteThey are brilliant. I'm surprised I hadn't come across this film before since I love the Maigret detective.

ReplyDeleteThere are several tv series based on the books. Those are good, too.
DeleteYou find the most epic adventures!
ReplyDeleteThey kinda find me ;)
DeleteLaughton as Maigret. I wouldn't have thought that but why not? I need to seek this one out. Love those books.
ReplyDeleteI was skeptical. I tend to think of him as rather over the top, but he's great here.
