Today is the anniversary of the first performance of Richard Strauss' Also sprach Zarathustra in 1896.
I can't hear those first notes without thinking of the movie 2001: A Space Odyssey, and then I want to turn the music off and re-watch the film.

...music make memories.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree :)
DeleteI can hear those first few notes also and expect a Space Odyssey to begin also.
ReplyDeleteI don't guess I knew the music before the movie.
DeleteDitto about hearing the music. I've watched the film a couple of times and have no clue what the plot is.
ReplyDeleteThat's what my husband says. I read the book first, and I think that affected my viewing.
DeleteI think of 2001 too! It's a powerful piece.
ReplyDeleteElvis used it, too lol
DeleteYes, this is music I love! Have a great week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever heard the whole piece...
DeleteIt is quite a craft, to match music and films. That is a great one!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a dramatic sound. No wonder they used it for that. And also Elvis ;)
DeleteOMGosh! Me, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI should re-watch that. It's been a while.
DeleteDefinitely a great piece of music used brilliantly for 2001.
ReplyDeleteAll the best and a happy week, Traude
