Powers of Ten is a 1977 short film (9 minutes) depicts the relative scale of the Universe according to an order of magnitude (or logarithmic scale) based on a factor of ten, first expanding out from the Earth until the entire universe is surveyed, then reducing inward until a single atom and its quarks are observed.

DeleteMemory jogged! I saw this a long, long time ago--somewhere on TV. Probably PBS or on the news. Still interesting. Imagine what they could do with this concept nowadays. :)

DeleteI remember being told in school that the universe was NOT expanding. Several of our science teachers believed the universe was only about 6000 years old when that film came out. I had to get to college to understand the real story.
