The Alphabet Murders is a 1965 comedy film, a parody of
Poirot. It's silly -oh, so silly. If you like that kind of thing you'll like this. It stars Tony Randall as Poirot, Anita Ekberg, and Robert Morley. I watched it
through Amazon Prime on BritBox.
...we had an alphabet murderer in this community years ago and it wasn't a comedy.
ReplyDelete!!! Horrifying. The last thing we need is for murderers to get "cute" :(
DeleteMight be a good watch for a Saturday night
ReplyDeleteI watched it on a weekday morning iirc lol
DeleteI haven't heard of this parody.(No surprise) But I like Tony Randall. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a great Saturday.
ReplyDeleteHe's fun to watch, isn't he!
DeleteI watched this one years ago, and can't remember much about it except the title. That says everything! Valerie
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen it before but had seen other adaptations of the story.
DeleteI like spoofs.
ReplyDeleteFYI: Bite is a good scary movie, although some scenes require a strong stomach (and not due to gore).
Googling Bite, thanks. Ah... body horror... but I should try it anyway. I mean I didn't used to like horror at all except for the old classic monster movies, and I've learned to appreciate them in general...
DeleteI don't mind gore so much any more as long as it's not torture-related.
This might be good for grins on a downer day. I do like Tony Randall (though as Poirot??!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe's a remarkable actor, isn't he!
DeleteYes, I watched it again and got a few more chuckles out of it now that I knew who Poirot was. Loved the Miss Marble cameo! (Didn't know who she was either back then.) Was fun.
DeleteI shouldn't have taken time to watch this. I fell asleep with less than 15 minutes to go. I finally watched the ending and I'm not sure I should have wasted an hour and a half of my life, but I did enjoy thuis spoof.
ReplyDeleteI hate when I fall asleep during a movie or tv show, but it happens more than I'd like to think when I watch something at night. Then I go to bed and can I sleep? Of course not.
DeleteI remember watching this way back when because I loved Tony Randall. I remember it being silly but I missed the parody because I had never heard of Poirot. Oddly, murder mysteries and crime drama and detective shows became a favorite of mine these last 30 years (due to a dear friend of mine who loved mysteries lending me books to try)...so now I might see this movie in a whole new light. I shall have to give it a go! Ta! ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a kick out of it :)
DeleteNot heard of this one, thanks for the recommendation.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
It was new to me, too :)
