  2. I finally checked out this site for the list of movies. I saw from the trailer the famed Ginger Rogers was in this. I like that both men & women wear hats & oh the costumes!

  5. How do you rate this film? It is always interesting to see how as a viewer it compares to the critics. Of course you watch so many films, you could be a critic, I think. Hope it was a good Monday.

    1. I'm a film watcher but not a critic. I wish I knew enough to offer a critical view -you know, with an eye to film history and acting and directing styles, but I just enjoy watching movies. I enjoyed this one, but I wonder why some of them made the cut of 1,001 films and I've given away the actual book that explained the choices.

  6. Musicals were the bread and butter of the 30s and 40s movies. I am always glad to see a musical. I'll try to watch this soon,

    1. A new gilded age. It's deplorable, to borrow Hillary Clinton's description.

  8. Now you are talking my language -- movie musicals (and especially the Busby Berkeleys of the 30s.) "Remember My Fogotten Man," "We're in the Money" -- is "Shadow Waltz in that one? It's a stunner.

  9. Musicals were often on the afternoon movies growing up and I have seen loads of them. This one sounds familiar for sure. Escapist entertainment during the war. :)
