from the back of the book:
When Commissaire Jean-Baptiste Adamsberg, the chief of police in Paris's seventh arrondissement, is called to the scene of a ghastley and highly unusual murder, he thinks it can't have anything to do with the nine pairs of shoes and severed feet discovered outside of London's Highgate Cemetery just a few days earlier. With the help of the murdered man's gifted physician, Adamsberg delves into the victim's psyche and unexpectedly finds himself on a path that takes him deep into the haunted past of Eastern Europe, where a centuries-old horror has come to life. This is an investigation unlike any that Adamsberg has undertaken before - and one that someone on the inside is ready to stop at any cost.I've also read: #7 This Night's Foul Work

ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth.

ReplyDeleteScary
DeleteThis sounds like the kind of book I would enjoy. Yes, I do miss hitting the old books stores. Have a great day today.
ReplyDeleteBoth of these were good reads.
DeleteI have the first book in this series after it being recommended by a friend with similar reading tastes. I have it on my bedside to read stack. I'll check it out. And my new second hand reading it Amazon. It's dangerous as I can book shop anytime (really missing bookstores), and when I find a like new second hand copy cheap temptation gets to me. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteI haven't looked at Amazon for used books. I do still have a couple of stacks of science fiction books a friend gave me and the books I got as Christmas presents. We'll see how long that lasts ;)
DeleteGoodness--feet with shoes on. Sounds like an intriguing mystery right off the bat! :)
ReplyDeleteThat part reminded me of that news story about feet that sometimes wash up on beaches.
DeleteYes, really less creepy than an entire body, I suppose. I have seen that happen in detective shows, too. A mystery that is more difficult to solve, for sure.
DeleteThe feet story is fascinating:

Another one I want to read. You make him sound so interesting.
ReplyDeleteThat bit on the back always helps me decide ;)
DeleteI don't know this guy! And I think we have to get acquainted. Especially if he works in the Paris 7th. I love reading books set in areas I know -- I feel like I have an added insight into the atmosphere. This one sounds good.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, how I miss bookstores.
Yes, bookstores :( That hurts as much as anything else.
DeleteSounds interesting!
ReplyDeleteI thought so :)
