There's a Noose Waiting for You, Trinity! (aka The Return of Clint the Stranger) is a 1972 spaghetti western starring Klaus Kinski (one of our favorites) and George Martin. The music is by the ever-masterful Ennio Morricone. You can watch it on Amazon Prime. Or via Youtube:
*******
The use of Trinity in the title may have created some false expectations: this is most certainly not a comedy. In spite of the traditional storyline it's a rather dark movie. Martin is still the archetypical western hero of the peaceful man who's forced to take up his gun again, but he's also a psychologically tormented, unstable person who is haunted by his violent past in a series of red-tinted flashbacks. The action scenes are rather sudden; they're well-handled...
What fun to while away the time during COVID restrictions ... watching some of these un-sung movies. While I'm not a fan of westerns, it still surprises me that there are some really good acting moments.
ReplyDeleteI think of spaghetti westerns as a whole 'nother thing.
DeleteHaven't seen this one, but good spaghetti western is always worth a view! Happy Monday!
ReplyDeleteThere used to be more of them on Amazon Prime iirc, but they seem harder to find now. And they tend to be expensive to buy on disc (or I'd have more of them lol)
DeleteI don't think I've seen this.
ReplyDeleteThis one's worth watching. -Well, imo, of course ;)
Delete...when will some Americans get past their fascination with nooses?
ReplyDeleteSome people seem to think they're still living in the Wild West.
DeleteFunny how those Italian Westerns seem as if they represent American life. At some point, then, they became the model for American Westerns. Furthermore, the earlier spaghetti westerns by Sergio Leone were based on Samurai movies by Kurosawa -- just to make sure everyone was culturally swamped. Who knows where cultural appropriation begins or ends?
ReplyDeleteThere is a whole Wikipedia page titled "Remakes of films by Akira Kurosawa" with lots of Spaghetti Westerns on it!
be well... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
It's fascinating to watch the Kurosawa films and the American versions close together. Some of them are scene-by-scene remakes. I admit I have some trouble knowing when I've crossed a cultural appropriation line *sigh*
DeleteI'll watch this tonight. The idea of a western with a noose hits a bit close to home, though.
ReplyDeleteSome of us never grew up. The rioters putting up nooses and crying "Hang Mike Pence" seem to think they're living in the "westerns" period.
DeleteNot my cup of tea! Have a great day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYes, it's not for everybody ;)
DeleteThis is perfect. I love these spaghetti westerns.
ReplyDeleteI forget when I saw my first one, but I've been a fan ever since :)
DeleteI don't think is my kind of movie but with Morricone, I know the score is a good one.
ReplyDeleteHe was a genius!
DeleteAlways good music from Ennio Morricone.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
