from the Netflix site:
A brutal blacksmith tortures a demon he blames for his misery, unaware a trespassing orphan is about to change everything. Based on Basque folklore.from Wikipedia:
It tells the story of a blacksmith who holds a demon in captivity, and as a revenge for his troubles is torturing it. Later, an orphan girl releases the demon from its enclosure.trailer:
New Horror Express calls it "a thoroughly entertaining fantasy-horror tale told with real brio and complete with visual imagination and a trio of enjoyable performances". Heaven of Horror says, "It’s a fantasy horror told from a child’s point of view. And it probably isn’t for everyone. Still, if you like fantasy, you should give it a shot!"
Horror Freak News says, "Whatever double feature you plan with your friends – make Errementari: The Blacksmith and the Devil one of the choices" and concludes with this: "put on some comfy pajamas and light up the microwave with a bag of popcorn… and prepare yourself for this delightful cinematic treat."
Sounds interesting. I'll have to go look for this.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy this one.
Delete...sometimes the demon is in the mirror.
ReplyDeleteSometimes that's true.
DeleteOhhh this sounds like my kind of movie. I will check it out today.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it :)
DeleteSounds interesting. You don't hear much about the Basque culture where I live, including writings or films.
ReplyDeleteWe used to follow the Basque Separatists. It's an intriguing history.
DeleteI learned a new word today. I had to look up the definition of brio.
ReplyDeleteCool! I don't always look up words when I see them, and then afterwards I sometimes forget to.
DeleteThe dubbing on foreign films is so much better than in the past. I really enjoyed two different foreign Tv series. The Gift a Turkish series a Horror/Fantasy/mystery show, hard to describe and Better Than Us a sci-fi thriller.
ReplyDeleteI'll check out The Gift. Better Than Us also looks good. I've never heard of either of these. Thanks for the recommendations!
DeleteThe world is a little too dark at the moment for this to sound appealing, I guess. I do hope you have a good week. That we all have a good--or decent--week. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to keep up with news right now, but I did re-watch the original Magnificent Seven and Guardians of the Galaxy yesterday.
DeleteThis sounds good, thanks. Have a great week! Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt was delightfully different
