This adaptation is from 1910 and is only 12 minutes long. The surviving print is missing the final scene, so it might be helpful to check out the Wikipedia entry for a plot review before watching. I enjoy seeing these earliest of films:

I'm taking my coffee cup and visiting with the T Stands for Tuesday bloggers.

I also prefer to watch any Shakespeare plays, especially if they have made a movie. Thanks for sharing this film find.
ReplyDeleteI like your snowflake mug, it looks hardy to hold a good strong cup of tea or coffee.
I like your mug! Happy T-Day!
ReplyDeleteDelightful. One of the few Shakespeare plays with a happy ending. For 1910,I was amazed at the lavish costumes and sets, too. Location scenes and real sheep! Happy T Day
ReplyDelete...Bonjour!
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing Loving your french press Happy T wishes
ReplyDeleteI took a Shakespeare course in college and remember this play from that. I wonder if they record plays to listen to on Audible or other book site? Anyhow, love your mug. You seem to have a nice seasonal collection. Have a great T day!
ReplyDeleteYes, Librivox has this free online:

and I bet it's available from others, too.
I had to read several plays of Shakespeare in college. Uhhhhggg. I prefer to watch a movie of the plays. Have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy watching Shakespeare plays but hubby doesn't get them. I may have to revisit this one . Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteI love reading Shakespeare! Enjoy your coffee, have a safe week, Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe DVDs are here! Ingo got Westworld, Futureworld and Capricorn One. Weekend-movies :-)
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day!
Coffee in a French press ~ nice and strong! My daughter was watching Shakespeare for English today too ~ Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteGreat adaption and only 12 minutes long, that must be a record for Shakespeare ...ha, ha 😀. I prefer reading the plays too and what could be better than with a cuppa! Loving your snowflake mug - Happy T Tuesday! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI was by earlier, then got called away before I could leave a comment. I also had a ton of paperwork I was trying to get out yesterday, which sucked up my time. I was late getting my T post up yesterday and now I'm even later playing host. I'm sorry I'm late visiting.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of Shakespeare, but since this was so short (and I DO love shorts), I decided to watch it. It actually wasn't bad.
I love your winter inspired mug. So glad you love your French press. I'm glad YOU are the one having to clean it and not me (grin). Thanks for sharing Shakespeare and your coffee with us for T this Tuesday which is a day late on my part.
Did you ever see “The Reduced Shakespeare Company” perform ALL of Shakespeare’s plays in one evening? Very humorous. I’ll have to come back and watch this one.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I've never heard of that, but it sounds like such great fun :) Googling now...
DeleteI might have to watch this just to see how they can digest ANY Shakespeare into 10 minutes!
ReplyDeleteI love your snowflake cup.
ReplyDeleteI struggled through Shakespeare in high school, but now I enjoy many of the memorable quotes every time I hear or have the chance to use them.
This one was new to me.
Happy T-day. Stay safe and stay well. Eileen xx
I have never gotten too much into Shakepeare, except for the comedies. But I will have some coffee. Great mug. Happy T Day.
ReplyDeleteGreat clip, very dramatic music! I was lucky to see quite a few Shakespeare plays while at school and in my teens. My favourite was a production of The Tempest.
ReplyDeleteLove the coffee mug! A very belated Happy T day! Chrisx
