The Nutcracker (1973 animation)

The Nutcracker is a 1973 Soviet animated film. According to Wikipedia, it is "based partly on Pyotr Tchaikovsky's ballet The Nutcracker, but more closely on E.T.A. Hoffmann's novelette The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, the story which inspired the ballet." The family's young maid is the main character here and the one who helps the nutcracker/prince.

  1. I didn't get to watch this before commenting, but I am curious if it is anything like the ballet. I can't say I am a huge fan of the ballet. It is fun to see occasionally but there are people who see it every year. Which is OK if you like ballet. Can't say that is me though. I will check this once I gt the chance. Hugs-Erika

    1. It's not much like the ballet imo. I like the ballet fine, but I've only seen it a few times -certainly not every year.

  2. I loved the music, but those three headed mice were creepy. I wasn't aware of this version. Thanks for sharing this. I actually enjoyed it and the animation was quite good, too.
