Watch a Christmas Movie!

I won't reproduce it here, but I have a list of Christmas movies here. Not all of them are Christmas-y movies, but all of them have a Christmas connection. Some, especially the older ones, are available online.

We have a lot of DVDs and CDs here:

We've been accumulating for years but have begun the process of letting go faster than we add to the collection.

  1. Wow, what a huge collection of Christmas movies you have 😁. We have a collection of Christmas movies too which we watch every year, not quite as many as you though ...lol 😉. I always watch Holiday Inn and one of my favourites which I don't see on your list is "The most wonderful time of the year" from 2008 originally from the Hallmark Card channel. The storyline tells about how a snow-bound stranger (Warren Christie) brightens the holidays for a retired police officer (Henry Winkler) and his niece (Brooke Burns). I also like "12 Men of Christmas" from 2009. Now I'm wondering what your "must see" Christmas movies are, do you have a Top 10? Thanks for sharing your wonderful list. Happy Friday and Weekend! J 😊

    1. I don't usually watch the Hallmark channel Christmas shows, I'll have to admit. I spent decades watching the same Christmas movies every year, and there are some of them which are definitely top 10 but which I just won't be ready to re-watch for a long time to come. Right now I'm favoring Shop Around the Corner, Christmas Story, Polar Express, George C. Scott/Alister Simm/Muppet Christmas Carol movies, We're No Angels (1954), Bishop's Wife, Christmas in Connecticut, Bells of St. Mary's....

    2. I have "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year" on DVD, not sure what the Hallmark Channel is like as we don't get it here, I can imagine though and probably wouldn't watch it either ...lol 😁. Thanks for your Top Picks! I haven't got some of these so will take a look to see if I can get them on DVD 😁. Happy Christmas movie watching my friend! Thanks again! J 😊 x

    3. The Hallmark Channel has a website http://www.hallmarkchannel.com/christmas where you can see all their offerings for this year as well as their movies from the past. They've been showing Christmas movies since before Thanksgiving, I think lol. Each of the movies (including "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year") has its own page so you can see if it's to your taste. I know a lot of people who just keep this channel on during the season. They're sick of the news ;)

    1. I hadn't thought of the last one you name as a Christmas movie, and had forgotten all about the first one. I need to go edit my list. Thx :)

    2. Meet Me in St. Louis was on the list already, but I haven't written a blog post about it so it must've been many a year since I last saw it. I need to try to watch it again.

  3. The Hallmark Channels (both) started playing Christmas movies the day after Thanksgiving. I am SO tired of Christmas movies. Of course, they are NOT the ones like what you are watching. I must check out a few. One thing I've tried to get me in the "mood" for Christmas is play Christmas music I love. Thanks for sharing YOUR list. Mine would be extremely short!

    1. The Hallmark channel movies seem so sweet to me lol, and I don't watch them. I keep Christmas music going all the time. I try to find some new things every year.

  4. I always watch It's A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Story. I have those and Polar Express--but I don't always watch Polar Express because it's rather dark. That's the extent of my Christmas movie collection--LOL! ;)

    1. I don't like It's a Wonderful Life, but I love the other 2 you mention. We find comfort in the fact that the bell still rings for us :)

  5. I some of my favourites in your collection. I do watch It's A Wonderful Life, but I am not sure I agree that George Bailey had a wonderful life ...but that's a discussion for another day.

  6. We have quite a few holiday movies too. The hubby isn't too fond of them as he says he's seen them all before. Guess he doesn't have a favorite. I'm a fan of the old Bing crosby ones-Holiday Inn and White Christmas. But you have to admit, National lampoon's Christmas vacation is pretty crazy. Hugs-Erika

    1. I agree with your husband that there are only so many times I can watch the same movie,. and even once a year -after decades- can be too much lol. I like White Christmas but not Holiday Inn, and I've never seen National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. That's a definite hole in my watching history.
