Last Night (1998)

Last Night (1998) is an award-winning Canadian apocalyptic black comedy-drama film. I had never heard of this movie and happened across it just by accident, and I'm surprised it's not better known. I highly recommend it. It's a beautiful look at the last hours of our world, a look into the choices people make as the world ends.

  1. How did I miss this? I'm off to see it now. It sounds like a good lesson in human nature. Thanks for the review and the link to view it, too.

  2. Well, i's maybe obvious I haven't been feeling well and that affords me more watching time. I did watch this one, too. Quite strange. Makes you wonder what you would want to do your lat couple months or last day. I doubt much of anything different, honestly. What would you do?

    1. I always make time for movie watching ;) It's hard to guess how I'd react if I knew there was no hope, that the world was ending, that no one would survive :( So much of it all would seem pointless with all of history coming to an end.

    2. Thinking about it--I would be less inclined to actually spend time with anyone but McFamily, but would let everyone know how much they meant to me. Would want to spend more time appreciating the beauty of this earth and galaxy. With my health that would mean a lot of feeding & watching the birds (probably to music) and watching nature shows galore with Annie. You'd never catch me out in the throngs of panicking humanity, though. ;)

    3. I agree that time with loved ones would be a priority -and enjoying the natural world while it lasts. I thought this movie was striking in how it ignored how they got to that point and focused completely on how the people chose to react. I've never seen a movie quite like it.
