A Christmas Carol (1982)

This Australian film is an animated adaptation of A Christmas Carol from 1982. To be honest, the animated adaptations often seem much of a muchness to me. I find the background music in this one to be annoying. This isn't by far the worst one I've seen, but I won't watch it again.

  1. OK, I confess. I watched about the first six minutes and called it quits, since I'm pretty sure I know how it's going to end (grin). Thanks for trying, though.

    1. I'm a Christmas Carol adaptation completest lol, or I'd never have made it through.

  2. I like when you have versions that are just a tad bit spooky and Victorian. Like Dickens envisioned it when he wrote it. I didn't bother to watch this but somehow it looks too bright. I just read a fun new book about Dickens writing his carol (Mr. Dickens and his Carol) which had all the color of Victorian London. Maybe not an award winner but very clever and enjoyable.

    1. Yes, very bright. Intended to be child-friendly, I'm sure, which so often means simplistic and sappy. I'll see if I can find that book. It sounds like something that would make a good Christmas present for my husband :) Thx!

  3. I recognized the cartoon characters so I must have seen this one way back when--LOL! I watch pretty much every version that comes along. ;)

    1. Sadly, there are very few stand-outs among the animated Christmas Carol adaptations, but I'm like you in watching every version I find :)

  4. I never watched a Christmas carol until I watched the animated one with jim carey.
I actually loved it and watched the old black and white soon after, loved it too:)
This one isn't great but at least the characters don't look like mice, like some older cartoons:D

    1. The Jim Carey one is one I haven't seen. He's just too much... but I do want to see it eventually.

  5. Christmas Carol is such a great story, isn't it! I watch the Muppet Christmas Carol every year, not sure Mr.Dickens would approve ...lol 😉. Have a great week! J 😊

    1. The Muppet version is one of my favorites, maybe even the best! It's -oddly enough- one of the most true-to-the-book adaptations, so I think Dickens would like your choice :)
