A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1966) is, quite probably, the funniest film ever made. Is there anyone who hasn't already seen it? I love this one! It stars Zero Mostel, Phil Silvers, Jack Gilford, Buster Keaton, Michael Hordern, Roy Kinnear, Jon Pertwee and Ingrid Pitt. The music is by Stephen Sondheim.

Yep, one person, MYSELF, who has never seen it. But it sounds like it's a lot of fun to watch.
ReplyDeleteUh oh. I haven't seen it either. Will add it to my list.
ReplyDeletei first saw it many, many years ago, and it never gets old. if i could sit the world down and screen this for it, i would lol.
ReplyDeleteHave not seen, but will try to get. Has that Mel Brooks vibe, perhaps it´s Zero Mostel that does it. Looks like a gem.
ReplyDeletei do highly recommend it to you all! maybe it's just where i live, but the musical used to be performed often by school groups and community theaters around here, so the movie is fairly well-known. or it was back in the day.
ReplyDeletezero mostel is perfect, and i love jack gilford and michael hordern. this was buster keaton's last film -he died of cancer soon after its release- but i've read he did many of his own stunts for the movie.
this is priceless! if you see it and don't like it, i'd love to hear your take.
