Judy Garland Christmas Special

The Judy Garland Christmas Special is the 1963 Christmas episode of this show. I actually feel sad watching Judy Garland as she aged. What a tragic life, and dead at 47. That said, the Christmas special can be enjoyed anyway, right?

Join me in a cozy cuppa:

That mug on the left was broken long ago, but we remember it fondly. Share your own drink reference with the T Stands for Tuesday bloggers.

  1. Very pretty Christmas mugs & I do like the place mat they are sitting on. We had a clear out last year of mugs & a few well worn Christmas mugs were sent out into the world. I don't remember Judy Garland being played or talked about much in our home, other than Wizard of Oz. But what I have read about her, it was a very sad used life for her. Such a gifted child used by the wrong sort.

  3. In so many of the Christmas specials back then they involved the entire family, but Judy had them really perform, didn't she? Liza was so young here. and looked even more like her mother. I had even forgotten Judy had two younger kids!
And Mel Torme--haven't thought about him for decades. My mom really liked him. She liked all those guy singers.
The dancing Santas was pretty dumb, but they always did dumb things like that on those shows. We were so easily entertained--lol! :)

  8. Everyone is posting images of mugs, and yours look very nice. I have way too many mugs and can’t part with them! But I have not collected any seasonal ones. I hope I will not collect any more at all.

  12. Ah, the mug on the left might be broken, but the memories it holds are unbreakable. It's funny how certain items become cherished mementos. It is a beautiful mug!
    Happy T Tuesday!

  13. Those mugs are beautiful. They're very traditional Christmas. I don't remember this show. Back in those days we only had 4 channels -ABC, NBC and CBS. As well as some PBS. Now the choices are huge, aren't they? Hope it was a great T day Nita.

  15. Oh what a bit of nostalgia. I watched the show, and although I don't remember this show (I don't think we had it in Europe) I love seeing Judy Garland sing. And aren't her children talented. A very young Liza Minelli, and Mel Tormé. Very christmassy. It would have been quite popular in its day.
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  19. Thanks for visiting for T this week. I am sorry to be late visiting, but I have just been released from the hospital where I have been since Monday night. Before you ask, I DO NOT have Covid. I will be back tomorrow to visit each person who dropped by this week.

  20. As promised, I am back to visit. My plan on Friday was to visit the international T Tuesday participants first, while it was Friday in their world, then those who live in the states where it would still be Friday in THEIR world. That didn't happen, although I was able to visit a few before my young fur baby got sick. As much as Bleubeard tries to stay away from Squiggles, he was (seemed) actually concerned for once. Now Squiggles has been looked at and taken care of, I am back. And even though I am on hiatus until the new year, I will be here every Monday afternoon my time to spend T time when you link on Tuesday, dear Nita.

I have never seen any Judy Garland shows. We didn't have a TV when I was growing up. My grandparents wanted me to study and learn about the world, but not though TV. The day I graduated from high school, they bought their first TV!!

Even though the mug on the left is broken and gone, it still holds many memories, I'm sure. And my heart skipped a beat when I saw that carousel mug. They are kissing cousins to rocking horses and I have a few of those, too (not mugs, though). Thanks for sharing this lovely video/show with us, as well as those mugs for T this past week, dear Nita.
