by Sam Cooke, who died on this date in 1964. from LCSun-news:
Later in his career, Cooke led a refusal to play a segregated show in Memphis. Many of the other artists on the bill showed up to play, but Sam stayed in his motel room — at the Lorraine Motel, where Dr. Martin Luther King was killed just a few years later.
...great history, thanks.
ReplyDeleteChange. When? :(
DeleteI wish we'd get a change now in terms of good news, peace on earth and kindness. It seems lacking lately. I love Sam Cooke.
ReplyDeleteYes, hope is fine, but change would be better.
DeleteStill waiting. Still want to believe it will come. Baby steps? Still hoping humanity will grow and learn. This is the season of love and kindness and forgiveness. Won't give up hope.
ReplyDeleteIt's shocking how far we _haven't_ come :(
