Roger Ebert's site closes with this:
Horror has a long history of using the natural world as its enemy. “In the Tall Grass” is at its best when it follows this tradition. We all know what it’s like to be lost, far from home and safety, but what if even the traditional rules of direction were completely haphazard? As it gets less relatable, it gets less interesting, but there’s still Wilson’s all-in performance and Natali’s craftsmanship to keep us engaged, stuck in the grass, praying for a way out.
...Stephen King is too spooky for me.
ReplyDeleteThis one has tension and suspension but isn't what a lot of people seem to view as "horror". There's no blood/gore at all, for example.
Deletethis looks good! A bit like combining Children of the Corn and Pet Semetary
ReplyDeleteI found this one quite satisfying.
DeleteNot a typical horror, it looks like it's more more physiological which makes it still too scary for me ...lol 😉. Happy Friday and weekend! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteIt did have its tense moments.
DeleteI really like Stephen King, but I don't have Netflix. I'm lucky to have the lowest level of cable I can "buy."
ReplyDeleteWe got rid of cable years ago. Eventually we added Amazon Prime. A while after that we added Netflix. It's still less than we were paying for the lowest tier of cable. Cable may have adjusted their pricing since then, but we'll never go back.
DeleteI usually give horror a pass, but Stephen King knows how to do it!
ReplyDeleteI've liked the movies I've seen based on his work.
DeleteSounds good! Valerie
ReplyDeleteI thought so :)
DeleteThis sounded like Stephen King even before you wrote it was him. Funny I was just thinking about how I need to finish reading the Shining. I put aside because with dark evening, I was getting to be too chicken. That's besides the point. This one sounds like an interesting idea. Happy Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie The Shining long before I read the book and ended up liking the movie better. That's unusual for me.
DeleteI have seen this movie several times and I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I watched this one.
DeleteIt sounds like it might be good.
ReplyDeleteFYI: "The Culling" (2015, I think) is a supernatural movie that is sort of good, but beware of multiple instances of the main characters doing unbelievable things that no one would do in real life. And the "plot reveal" is somewhat disappointing. But I thought the movie did have some scary parts, including one that made me jump, which I haven't done in a long time with a scary movie. Just be forewarned, it is by no means a great movie.
I just finished "The Head". It's a 6-episode miniseries on HBO Max (we're giving that a try), a thriller that takes place in Antarctica. Not bad through the first 5 episodes, but it all fell apart in episode 6. Nothing made sense as anything anyone would've done even if it had been possible, which it wasn't. So disappointing. Similar were "Trapped" and "Fortitude" which I liked much, much better even before "The Head" went off the rails.
DeleteI'll check "The Culling". Thanks!
