Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity is a 2007 supernatural found-footage horror movie. I had never seen this one before and watched it on Netflix.

trailer:

The Guardian begins with this: "Both hair-raising and chilling, this suburban drama skips genre cliches, to come up with a claustrophobic classic". Empire Online closes by saying, "An Amityville for the YouTube age: potent, primal and genuinely frightening."

Roger Ebert opens a positive review with this: ""Paranormal Activity" is an ingenious little horror film, so well made it's truly scary...". Rotten Tomatoes has a critics consensus score of 83%.

    1. imo... it's lost a bit of its effect so long after, but it's still fine. Just not the "truly scary" it might've been back in the day.

    1. The filming technique has lost some of the newness, and that decreased the scare factor for me.

  4. Ohhh I was thrilled when these came out. My kind of movie. I own all the Paranormal movies. Mr. M. says they are boring and nothing happens. I think that is part of the excitement of the movie.

    1. I came to horror late so am just now seeing it. As with a lot of the horror movies, I think they aren't as effective later as they are when first released. That said, I'll watch the others if I come across them.

  5. I think I saw this on TV a couple of years ago. It was a bit scary at times, if it's the film I'm thinking of.
