Poison à la Carte
Poison à la Carte is the first novella in the 1960 collection Three at Wolfe's Door by Rex Stout. This story was adapted for the A&E TV series A Nero Wolfe Mystery. In this one Wolfe makes one of his rare appearances at a social gathering, supporting his private chef Fritz' cooking for the annual dinner meeting of an Aristology club. When a death is attributed to the food, Wolfe proves Fritz' cooking was in no way responsible. The dinner is held on April 1.
Here's the TV adaptation:

I LOVE these!
ReplyDelete--A Pal
Yes! :)
DeleteFun title
ReplyDeleteThey do fun things with the titles on these.
Deletenot familiar with this one-I don't watch allot of mysterious-but I am beginning too-so far the Hallmark mysterious
ReplyDeleteWe like the mysteries generally, but this Mauray Chaykin/Timothy Hutton adaptation is a treasure. Even better than the books, which is rare.
DeleteI've bookmarked this and will watch it later, hopefully tonight. I'm sure I've seen it before because I saw all of them when they first came out. Too bad A&E isn't really about A&E anymore!
ReplyDeleteTV channels ain't what they used to be *cough*HGTV*cough* We bought this series on DVD as we came across it and have re-watched them several times.
DeleteI agree with you about HGTV as well as A&E. I'm seeing an influx of true crime mysteries on different channels, though.
DeleteI finally watched it and was so surprised at how young both Hutton and Lindy Booth looked.
DeleteHutton looks so _young_ in these now that I'm used to seeing him in his later work. So _skinny_! lol
DeleteThat's a good choice for April's fool day. Hope you weren't buying into anyone's jokes today.
ReplyDeleteI stay offline and off FB in particular on the day. I'm not a fan. It gets ugly. And besides the news is hard enough to tell from the satire without folks trying to "fool" people lol
DeleteI remember seeing this on TV here, but it was years ago. They showed a whole series. Valerie
ReplyDeleteIt's such a good series, just not enough seasons. I wish it had lasted longer.
DeleteThat youtube website has the entire A&E series plus the pilot episode!! I have bookmarked it--thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like them as much as we have :) We have them on DVD and re-watch them every once in a while.
