Roger Ebert considers it one of the "great movies".
I am going to watch this. I started it but then the hubby put the hockey game on. I think I might have seen it a few years back at a friend's house. It was one of those films that stuck in my head but I can't remember the name of it. Once this game is over I'm going to put it on. Thanks for sharing. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI have that problem of remembering the movie but not the name. Google can help with that if I can remember enough to put in distinctive search terms, but it's sooo frustrating!
DeleteI have never heard of this film, & being Canadian I will need to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI found it looking for Christmas movies I hadn't seen a kajillion times. I hope you like it.
DeleteI'm sorry. Absolutely no clue why this was rated so highly. It was interesting, but definitely only a so-so movie for me. ??
ReplyDeleteThis movie seems to be much less focused on what happens -the actual plot- and more about relationships and a way of life. It is rich in atmosphere, and the setting fascinated me. That said, I'm sure my husband wouldn't be impressed, and I've never recommended it to him. I won't be adding it to my regular Christmas rotation. I do however remember every scene, and I actually watched this _last_ year and just forgot to post it then. It definitely made an impression on me.
DeleteI've never heard of this one and enjoyed reading your views on it, thanks for the recommendation! J 😊
ReplyDeleteI loved the scenes of Canada and a look at a different time and place. It made me cold just watching it lol
