What matters is always having a good drink within your reach. And there were a few painters who represented delicious (and dangerous) drinks in their artworks. So, prepare your tea, (or get a beer), sit back, and relax while I show you some of the most interesting drinks in art.
Click through and enjoy those lovely paintings. Such a variety! I'll be having tea:
Please share your own drink-related post and join us at the T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth.
I like tea in the garden by Matisse. Those other Victorian/EDwardian dresses look heavy and hot. And I really like you cup and saucer. Pink is the perfect color for this time of year! Have a great T day Nita.
ReplyDeleteOH I do like your pink tea cup set & that looks like shortbread ... oh dear I just may park myself on your patio for the morning!! Drinks in art - now that was fun.
ReplyDelete...Fiestaware?
ReplyDeleteYes :)
DeleteThat is a nice collection of paintings, with a pleasant view of tea, coffee, and beer. A totally different view would be the two works by Hogarth called "Beer Street" and "Gin Lane," which are social criticism of drunkenness. I also like some of the Toulouse-Lautrec images of drinking, Caravaggio's Bacchus, Medieval tapestries showing winemaking, and Andy Warhol's Coke bottles. I love drinking in ART!
ReplyDeletebest, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
I enjoyed that collection of paintings thank you
ReplyDeleteHappy T
Indeed I have a beer in front of me (with a self-baked pizza muffin for dinner).
ReplyDeleteGreat paintings and a fantastic idea for T Day. Valerie
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet cup!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, Nita. I saw the Matisse at LACMA when I was there and I saw the Manet over the July 4 holiday one year in Philly. I went to see the tall ships and of course, had to stop by their museum. These are some very important and impressive artists in that article. Thanks for sharing these with us for T this Tuesday and bringing back memories of trips I took.
ReplyDelete...and I've just made myself a cup of tea.
ReplyDeleteI do like your pink teacup/saucer.
All the best Jan
Such a pretty pink cup, Fiesta Ware? I am off to have a look at the link.

ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
When painting I need a mug with a cover so I don't accidentally pu the brush in my coffee--lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever idea for a T post -- and a wonderful collection of paintings, too!
ReplyDeleteI love the pink mug. The lady with the absinthe looks miserable lol and the two ladies at the top drinking the tea definitely look like they are gossiping about someone else. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
