Ballet Mécanique is a 1924 short film described by Wikipedia as a Dadaist post-Cubist art film conceived, written, and co-directed by the artist Fernand Léger in collaboration with the filmmaker Dudley Murphy with cinematographic input from Man Ray. It is considered one of the masterpieces of early experimental filmmaking. This one's 20 minutes long, and I'll admit to investing 20 minutes in anything described in such glowing terms. You can watch it here or via YouTube.
Cool movie, it looks crazy lol. Pretty mug, I have one of those coffee makers, I forget what they are called, but I got one in Holland when I visited my friend and everyone used them there. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
Man Ray is a favorite of mine and he keeps getting more and more acclaimed and well-known. I just read a review of a new exhibit of his work and of his influence in fashion photography, which he did to make ends meet when art for art's sake didn't put food on the table. SO that is a neat movie suggestion. best, mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Couldn't watch more than several minutes. Reminds me of the disjointed, bizarre stoner movies of the late 60s. I'd rather watch a lava lamp. I guess I go for mellow rather than frenetic. lol! ;)
Yes, you still have on of those "manual" filters for coffee. So do we and the last time we used it was during a power outage. It came in really handy. Very beautiful cup, by the way.
Sorry I'm so late visiting. Still taking care of two homes, four cats, four sandboxes, and four food bowls, as well as four demanding cats, two of which don't like sharing me.
That short was kind of freaky to me. Like Tom said, the repetitive music was a bit irritating. I kept being distracted by the hand on the right side of the screen.
On the other hand, I loved your cup and saucer. That pour over coffee takes forever to settle, doesn't it? You could grind the beans, pour in the water, watch the short, and your coffee still might not be ready to drink (grin). Thanks for sharing this film and your coffee with us for T this week, dear Nita.
Mmm, sorry, not my cup of tea. Oh lovely, you make coffee the old fashioned way. When I was a child my mum had ,what she called, Melita filters. Just like yours. Belated happy T-Day, Lisca
I don't remember where I saw this before but it was good to see again. That poor woman climbing those steps..... love your coffee filter and cup. Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
I like your cup and saucer. It looks pretty. This film sounds interesting too. Thanks for sharing all these. Have a great weekend ahead and a Happy Belated T-day! Amila - Diaryofanewmom.com
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
...the music (sound) is a bit hard on my ears this morning.
ReplyDeleteYou must have a cabinet just filled with your great mug/cup collection Nita. This one is very pretty and perfect for May. Happy T day.
