I'm staying in still -haven't been out for two weeks- and am putting off a grocery trip as long as I can. We've had 26 deaths in my county but no new deaths in the last couple of days. I'll be glad when supplies of toilet paper/eggs/meat/masks/bread/etc. are available on a regular basis, when the promised testing is a reality, when there are better treatment options and a vaccine, when mail-in voting for the November election is established, and when the gardens re-open for public visits.
Good morning, This is an amazing painting-so life like I almost thought it was an old photo.
ReplyDeletewe are not going anywhere either-I go food shopping every 2 weeks or so but that's about it-I did go to the hardware store for paint which they didn't have-sigh. there is no way I would want mail in voting for a November Presidential election-that would be a nightmare of fraud-just my opinion
Happy T wishes better days are ahead we must believe Kathy
Mail-in voting is fairly common already, with the military and Americans overseas, for example. There are several states that conduct their voting through the mail for all voters, and all states allow mail-in voting for some voters. I know trump insists it's ‘RIPE for FRAUD,’ as he puts it and that where it's instituted Republicans will never be elected again, but there's no evidence to support that claim. No evidence at all. Fraud happens, but it's quite rare, and Republicans across the country are encouraging it with Florida, Arizona, and Utah, for example, (Republican states) already having it. If you have evidence to support your opinion, I'd love to see it. I've looked, and haven't found anything. Mail-in voting is working well in those places that already have it.
DeleteThe IRS has us file taxes securely online. And we don't hear complaints about fraud. What about online voting?
DeleteWe submitted our census info online, and I didn't hear anybody complaining about fraud.
Delete...our Son and SIL do our shopping, I haven't been in a store in a month.
ReplyDeleteAmen to what you said. especially the toilet paper
ReplyDeleteYou have listed the basics that we all need, hope it will soon be reality. Love the painting. Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI think we all agree with your words, I must say we haven’t had many shortages in Spain, they did ration everyone from day one, a few things are missing but then they have them back in stock so apart from flour we’ve been lucky.
ReplyDeleteI just wish I did t have to go shopping but I am all organised for tomorrow, everything g is laid out ready so we are organised when I get back! It’s a major operation!
HappyT Day, Jan x
I have always LOVED John Singer Sargent. His art has always appealed to me. I'm thrilled you spotlighted this art and it fits perfectly for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteWe are going to vote by mail in our primary, which takes place soon. By the time the primary gets to us, the shouting is usually nearly over.
Here we even are allowed shopping baskets now. Slowly getting back to normal. To a happy T-day, and all days!
ReplyDeletewow- this is such a beautiful painting!! I love the rich colors, the glow of the lights, and the depth created in this scene. Glad you are able to stay put. Not possible for me with a voracious eater like my hubby is. Well, and I love fresh produce too:) Just keeping very careful when I go out. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art ~ Stay well!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about all the deaths in your county. Our area is not heavily populated since we are rural. Our county has only 15 cases as of now. Sounds like a good move on your part to stay inside. I hope you are able to get grocery delivery.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting. Sargent's works are lovely!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate
It is a lovely painting you shared with us today.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.
Stay safe and well.

What a beautiful painting. So atmospheric. I love the lighting. I wonder if they had gas lighting or would they be candles? Surely not with those fancy shades. And I don't think there was electric lighting in 1884. Anyway I love it.
ReplyDeleteHere in Spain, some businesses have been allowed to open again, like the building trade. Our local builders merchant is taking phone orders and delivering them, leaving pallets with materials on our doorstep. That is an improvement. Things must be getting a bit better. The curve must be flattening a bit. (about time!)
Happy T-Day,
Stay safe, stay healthy, stay home,
Hugs,
Lisca
Such a beautiful painting! The lighting is portrayed so beautifully with the glow from the lamps - amazing 😁. We have mail voting here in the UK. Wishing you a Happy T Tuesday! Stay well and keep well! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteThat is the perfect painting for T day. John Singer Sargent (who I don't know too much about) liked to paint women I think. At least the ones I have seen have all been women. I go out once a week to the store, but we also are not in one of the state's hotspots. (Due to being more rural I think, but we do have cases here.) But it is scary still and I get why you put it off as long as possible. The important thing is to stay safe. And hope it was a happy T also. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteHere in Cleveland supplies seem to be getting back to normal although some of the shelves have been empty I couldn't recall what was there so I guess i didn't need it. Things for me seem a little more normal being that I am still working. Filled the gas tank this weekend at $1.09 a gallon so at least gas is cheap.
ReplyDeleteThey've instituted limits on things like bread here, and that helps. I'd heard how cheap gas is. By the time I'm going anywhere it'll be right back up there lol
DeleteA beautiful painting, thanks for sharing it!
ReplyDeleteHappy T-Day!

Love the way he used dark and light and touches of color.
ReplyDeleteBeen 35 days isolation for me so far. Stay safe and well. :)
Lovely painting...very romantic feel with the dim lighting.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day!
Lovely painting. I agree with the things you look forward to seeing happen. It's distressing to continue to see food and toilet paper shortages. :-(
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful is this painting! Thank you very much for sharing it. I hope you had a happy T-day!
ReplyDeleteI join you when you talk about this great world tragedy. I hope everything returns to "normal" as soon as possible. I haven´t left the house for a month, my son is the one who takes the dog out and goes shopping. You have to protect yourself as much as you can.
I wish you a very nice afternoon, and send big hugs , Stay safe and well,
Caty
Sorry to hear that your county has been hard hit by COVID. Isn't it ironic to be looking forward to such simple things? Very strange times.
ReplyDeleteStay safe and stay well.
Happy T-Day! Eileen xx
Always enjoy the art you share! and I'm with you...staying in and hoping for answers and better times! Have a safe week!
ReplyDeleteWe have been lucky to get online shopping delivered to our door, although only every 10 days so far, with my son bringing hard to get items from a larger supermarket that he goes to. It's also good to see him - even if at a distance! We still can't get flour anywhere! Take Care when you do go out! Belated happy T day! Chrisx
