Danger: Diabolik

Danger: Diabolik is described by Wikipedia:
a 1968 action film directed and co-written by Mario Bava, based on the Italian comic series Diabolik ... The film is about a criminal named Diabolik (John Phillip Law), who plans large-scale heists for his girlfriend Eva Kant (Marisa Mell). Diabolik is pursued by Inspector Ginko (Michel Piccoli), who blackmails the gangster Ralph Valmont (Adolfo Celi) into catching Diabolik for him.
Terry-Thomas is Minister of the Interior, then Minister of Finance. Ennio Morricone did the music.

DVD Talk has a positive review. Time Out calls it "A delightfully outlandish comic strip directed by the master of the Italian B movie". Roger Ebert says, ""Danger: Diabolik" is a superior example of its type. Law is Diabolik, a supercriminal who lives underground in his electronic hideout with a sexy blond (Marisa Mell) and millions of dollars worth of gadgets."

As we settle into our social distancing, I'm thinking this looks like a good idea:

I'm not personally going to that extreme, but I am staying home except for weekly grocery trips. The online communities I'm a part of -blogging, FB, Twitter...- increase in significance in my life as this thing drags out. We're now under a shelter-in-place order here in Memphis, TN. Please join the T Stands for Tuesday gathering. We're naturally well over the recommended 6 feet apart.

  4. What could be better than a fun and cheesy Italian spy film, thanks for sharing! It's nice that we can stay in contact, and I smiled at the well over the recommended 6 feet apart ....lol 😉. Take care and sending Happy T Tuesday wishes! Hugs, Jo x

  5. I wish it was warm enough to do that. We woke up to 4 inches of wet snow. It is melting fast, but still sad to see it. Although we don't have to stay in yet here in NH (it is probably coming) I wish it was more spring like so I could at least go out and rake out the gardens. The one beauty of living in the country. I hope you are coping well and washing your hands. And staying 6 feet away from strangers. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika

  7. I was never a friend of camping, but a lonely and well equipped hut somewhere, with a good stock of food and coffee, that would be great... It's good to dream! Happy T Day, Valerie

  8. I too have been spending more time in my online communities. I love the extra inspiration that is going around. Enjoy the social distancing. It's a good time to relax and reflect.

  9. I'm not sure how I missed this, dear friend, BUT I've been so far behind for so long, I can see how I missed it. I love your shelter in place. As of one minute after midnight tonight (Wednesday), we in Wichita have a stay at home order for 30 days. They aren't calling it shelter in place or a lock down because at least we can get groceries, gas, pharmacy, and visit the home improvement shops (like Home Depot and Lowes). They did it because we now have NINE new cases in the county.

I love your shelter in place. You found the perfect spot to have your morning coffee, even if it is only a wonderful memory. Thanks so much for sharing this with us for T this Tuesday. And thanks for staying safe, too.

    1. Our "safer at home" order exempts "essential services" and allows for grocery trips. Law only allows our mayor to declare for 2 weeks, but he has said he may extend it when the 2 weeks is up. It's not raining today -at last!- so I may play on the patio a bit. Some cutting back of scraggly plants is definitely in order.

  10. I'm not a camping fan, but walking in those woods appeals to me. I'm limiting my trips to only the essentials: groceries, etc. Right now our Connecticut State Parks and Forests are open, but the bathrooms are closed, so they're encouraging people to go solo to a place near them, for walking exercise, and maintain the social distancing if others are there, etc. It has still been a little too cool here for me to venture out to a State Forest for trail walking, and might not go even when it warms up a little. I'm already tired of this whole thing, because I've been effectively sheltering in place for a few weeks now, due to the escalation that occurred in the tri-state area. But I'm not going to ignore the rules, so the shelter in place will continue for me.

  12. I never knew they had made a film about Diabolik. I remember the comic strips. They were very popular in the 60s and 70s in Italy. When I lived in Italy I had piles of them in the bottom of our wardrobe! (Don't ask me why they were there...)
    Stay safe dear friend,
    Happy (belated) T-Day,
    Hugs,

  14. I very nearly got carried away and continued watching this - I have bookmarked it so I can definitely come back! I used to love Terry Thomas! These are strange times and we have to do as our government tells us and self isolate! Although some shops are having special opening hours for over 70's we are advised here to avoid if possible! Take care and Belated Happy T Day! Chrisx
