Neely's Interstate BBQ

We had meant to go to Neely's Interstate BBQ for ages but never had. When The Husband was on vacation we were unable to take a trip, so we did a staycation. This was something we treated ourselves to that week. You can read their history here. This is the view from where we sat:

I had the small (yes, that's what they call "small") BBQ sandwich with beans and a Coke:

Delicious! You can see the menu here.

Afterwards we went to the Lichterman Nature Center

where they have a display of scarecrows:

There's not much Autumn color,

but it was a pleasant outing anyway.

  1. That sandwich looks awesome! The nature center looks like a beautiful place to walk around. Though the leaves are still green, the scarecrows are certainly decked out in autumn colors. Humpty Dumpty made me laugh.

    1. My daughter has always loved Humpty Dumpty, so I tend to notice them :) The scarecrows do add a fall touch :)

  2. It looks like a great outing to me! That sandwich looks yummy! I would go for it. The barbecue sauce looks not too gooey and I like that. And you look like you have a beautiful day for a walk and some scarecrow viewing. Although we have the color this year it has been wet and got cold way to early. At least for my taste. Humpty dumpty makes a great scarecrow. Hope you have a great weekend. Hugs-Erika

    1. It was a beautiful day! We've had some rain, and there's cold weather moving in now, and we're finally getting some sweater weather lol

The BBQ restaurants around here take pride in their sauces. Each place is different :)

    1. The BBQ here is so good it's hard to decide among all the great BBQ "joints" :) The nature center is a joy in every season. The scarecrows have been an annual thing for some time. I remember when it started, and it seems popular.

  6. Even this vegetarian thinks your sandwich looks good. Your husband's fries looked tempting, too. I hope they gave you silverware, because I would NOT be able to get that in my mouth, I fear.

I always love the scarecrows. I remember you showing them before, albeit different, of course. Humpty Dumpty made me laugh. I'm surprised your trees aren't as autumnal as normal. Lovely outing, though.

    1. Silverware was provided :) I cut that sandwich into quarters lol

The scarecrows have become a tradition. The tree color here depends so much on rain and weather, and this year hasn't been the best for it :( I do miss the reds and golds when we don't get them.

  7. A local produce market Red Wagon Farm, does hayrides and mazes in the fall and hires kids 13-17 to pose as scarecrows around the farm where the different tours go.

    1. Live scarecrows sounds like great fun! The Agricenter here in Memphis has a great maze with a different design every year and offers hayrides during the Halloween season, but I've never gone to it. It does sound like fun: http://www.agricenter.org/cornmaze/

  8. Wow! That's a small sandwich--LOL! Despite The Wizard of Oz I find scarecrows can be kind of creepy--but these didn't look too bad. Love the lily pond at the nature center. Looks like a nice outing. :)

    1. The scarecrows are group submissions, so they're promotional in a way and cuter than they are scary. Those lilies sometimes cover up the pond. It's a nice place to visit nature in every season, though I do wish for more fall color.
