The Legend of Shangri-la is a 2006 award-winning Chinese animated short film based on The Peach Blossom Spring, which is a 420 CE poem. Two men have tea together at 1:50 in part one below as the fisherman begins to tell the rich man the story of his experience in the fabled Shangri-la:
part 1:
At the beginning of part two below you can see the hospitality shown him by the Shangri-la residents: "They entertained me with their best wine and food in abundance."
part 2:
I'm sharing this at the weekly T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering, where we share a post with a drink in it. Please join the fun.
Hospitality, in making one's guests feel at home; a great reminder as we approach the season of welcoming people into our homes to share in a cup of cheer. That first image could certainly work for a card.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoyed watching this animation, thanks for sharing! THe drawings are amazing and I love how they created the ripples in the water and the pink cherry blossoms look so beautiful 😁. Wishing you a Happy T Tuesday! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteI read James Hilton's Shangri-La. Think I've seen the movie, too. Wonder if his tale is close to this.
ReplyDeleteI loved the James Hilton book! It's been a long time since I read it, but I don't think this animation bears any resemblance to his story, though they are both based on the same legend. There's a movie based on the Hilton book.
DeleteThanks for sharing this-I always get introduced to new things from you-thanks
ReplyDeleteHappy T Hugs Kathy
What wonderful illustrations. I think I'm going to have to watch these clips a few more times to catch all the details. You find the most unusual "Tea" related things.
ReplyDeletea wonderful link... each week i wonder what you will come up with:) happy t-day!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful animation, D. I enjoyed the short for the relaxing background music alone. What a lovely contribution to our T-party. It's very different from the movie based on Hilton's book. But I can see how a legend can be interpreted in many ways.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Hugs, Eileen

ReplyDeleteYou always find the most interesting items for T. Nice short film. I can't wait until retirement to have time to catch up on movies you and others are always sharing, but shorts I can watch now. (smile) Hope it was a good T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing this!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
Sorry for the late comment, I wanted to wait until I had the chance to see both videos. It was worth the wait. Beautiful. I didn't know the story although I had heard of it. I have since bought James Hilton's book on Kindle and I intend to read that soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing,
Hugs,
Lisca
