by Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, who died on August 10 in 1976. The work is at the Albertina museum in Vienna, Austria. You can see more of his work here. I'm joining the weekly T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering with the cups in this painting.
I'm no judge, but those don't look like either yellow or tulips to me. This one, now this is a painting with yellow tulips:
Charles Kay Robertson, Still Life of Tulips (or Spring Tulips) 1897 |
Maybe yellow tulips are in the eye of the beholder. Definitely cups for tea or coffee. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteAnother perfect piece for T day. :) I see tulips there. I guess since my drawing is never very great I can tell something that may not perfect form. AS that is how my drawings look. I like both paintings as different as they are. Happy T day. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteLOL - no in the first painting I would never have called those tulips or yellow. Tuesday is certainly a terrific day to gather :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, you're right about those strange flowers in the first photo, but there is at least a drink
ReplyDeleteHappy T Day, hugs, Valerie
another great tip for another trip to vienna!! happy t-day:)
ReplyDeleteI love the painted T cups but I do like the flowers in both paintings-first though definately not looking like tulips I agree lol
ReplyDeleteHappy T wishes Kathy
Well they are super paintings, and a quick glace would have me saying, yes they are tulips. Its only when you study the painting that the doubts begin to set in. They are however pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.

I have to agree that the flowers don't look that much like yellow tulips, but they certainly make a great table decoration for the tea pot, tea service, and cups. The other painting is far more realistic, but I like them both. Thank you SO much for sharing both paintings with us for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteSorry I was late visiting. I was out standing in line to vote.
Beautiful art! That first one is my favorite.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
I have to agree with you there Divers...lol Happy T day! Hugs~ deb
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you! Even though the first one is from the Albertina , the wonderful museum from my hometown, I like the second painting much more.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated T-Day! oxo Susi
I agree, D. Not yellow and not tulips. The two extreme tulip paintings make good contrast. The first is unrealistic and childlike. The second looks almost like a photograph.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
Both such beautiful paintings and so different in style! As hubby would say, the last one looks like a 'proper' painting!!! Have a great week! Belated Happy T day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful art! I like both artworks, tulips or not ...lol 😉. Sending you Happy T Tuesday wishes this Wednesday! J 😊 x
