Adventures of Gallant Bess is a 1948 contemporary Western starring Cameron Mitchell as a man who hopes his horse's tricks will win him the big prize in a rodeo. John Harmon (Star Trek connection, appearing twice on Star Trek: The Original Series) also appears. Everybody's got an angle.

This little-known film isn't much-reviewed online. I watched it for Cameron Mitchell, because of course I did.
I will have to watch this as I like westerns, especially if they are not the usual. It will have to wait until after school though, no extra time this morning. Have a great day. Hugs-Erika
I thought I knew all the horse movies. I've not heard of this one. There's another movie simply called Bess, it's about a horse, a boy's love of the horse, war & death & the new Bess. It stared Walter Brennan. But I cannot find this Bess movie listed anywhere. How do you search for these old movies?
With this one I was looking for movies Cameron Mitchell was in and just did searches using google. I looked around, and the closest thing I can find to another horse named Bess is the New Zealand WW1 horse that returned to New Zealand after the war. I'm not sure if a movie was made about her, though, or if Walter Brennan was in it....
As soon as I saw Cameron Mitchell, I knew why you'd watched it ...lol 😉. I love a good western! Thanks for the recommendation and I hope you've had a wonderful week! J 😊 x p.s. Sorry I'm late visiting, I seem to have picked up a summer cold and now have a bad cough that I can't get ride of - yuk! x
Blogs are wonderful, aren't they, in that the post is there whenever anyone happens by :) There's no pressure and no time limit with a blog. I appreciate your visits :)
Ah, Cameron Mitchell :) I do have a soft spot in my heart for him. :)
Because this blog does not consist of a single focus topic I chose the name Divers and Sundry where "Divers" means being of many and various kinds, and "Sundry" means consisting of a haphazard assortment of different kinds.
Cool! Might leave this running while I work in the studio
ReplyDeleteCameron Mitchell is much under-appreciated. I hope you enjoy it :)
Deletesounds good-
ReplyDeleteIt's got a western flavor to it, but it takes place in the current day of the late 1940s.
DeleteNice. Although not a western fan, I'm off to watch this one.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it. It's not a traditional western, so it may be more to your taste. Or less ;)

ReplyDeleteIt's very modern, with cars, etc., but I still count it as a western. I hope you like it.
