Adventures of Gallant Bess is a 1948 contemporary Western starring Cameron Mitchell as a man who hopes his horse's tricks will win him the big prize in a rodeo. John Harmon (Star Trek connection, appearing twice on Star Trek: The Original Series) also appears. Everybody's got an angle.

DeleteI thought I knew all the horse movies. I've not heard of this one. There's another movie simply called Bess, it's about a horse, a boy's love of the horse, war & death & the new Bess. It stared Walter Brennan. But I cannot find this Bess movie listed anywhere. How do you search for these old movies?
ReplyDeleteWith this one I was looking for movies Cameron Mitchell was in and just did searches using google. I looked around, and the closest thing I can find to another horse named Bess is the New Zealand WW1 horse that returned to New Zealand after the war. I'm not sure if a movie was made about her, though, or if Walter Brennan was in it....
