by Georges Braque, a French painter who died August 31, 1963, at age 81. I don't have a coffee pot that looks anything like that one, and it looks more like a pitcher to me. Shouldn't a coffee pot have a lid?
You can read more about him and see more of his work here, here at The Art Story, and at The Guggenheim site.
There's an 11-minute technical examination of four of his works -but not the one I've posted- here:

Good morning,
ReplyDeletethanks for sharing another new to me artist-off to check out the video
Happy T
Yeah, looks like a pitcher to me, too. Maybe the lid to the coffee pot broke so the pot is used as a pitcher or maybe a vase. Happy T Day!
ReplyDeleteSuch an interesting painting and artist! The black painted background which outlines the still life pieces are fascinating and work beautifully 😁. I enjoyed watching the video and learning more about his paintings especially how he incorporated the textures. Wishing you a very Happy T Tuesday! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteI've always enjoyed Georges Braque's art. I think I like his cubism art even better than Picasso's. Maybe I understand it better. This is a wonderful tribute to the man, his art, and his life. Thanks for sharing this great artist with us for T this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteoh, finally an artist i know:) the pot looks a bit like my espresso maker, this hexagon shaped classical one...
ReplyDeletehappy t-day:)
I love Braque's paintings and activism in general. Great that you found it for us at TSFT. Happy T Day, hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteDespite the lack of lid, I like this Braque painting. I think because it makes me think of the mixed media so popular today. I enjoyed the video, especially the part about how he added texture with sand, etc. - again very mixed media-like. Interesting. Thank you for another fun find for T, D.
ReplyDeleteHappy T-day! Hugs, Eileen
A very beautiful painting! It does indeed look like a pitcher. Cold beverages in tea cups do not sound appealing, but I do love the cup.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
I must admit I hadn’t heard of the artist, I also think the coffee pot looks like the one we have, not so pretty though. One of these days we may stop at the Guggenheim museum seeing as we catch the ferry in Bilboa twice a year on our way to the UK!
ReplyDeleteHappy T for Tuesday
Jan
A super post and it looks a wonderful painting, I have to say it looks more like a jug than a coffee pot to me.
ReplyDeleteHappy T day wishes.

ReplyDeleteI love George Braques art! I shall come back to watch the video another day! Happy T Day! Chrisx
ReplyDeleteAlways and interesting post Divers! You never disappoint! Happy happy T day! Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteBoy it does look like to pitcher to me too. Maybe it has cream for the coffee. But it is an interesting painting. And another painter I don't know. Thanks for the video too. I do like this painting though. Perfect for T day. Hope it was a good one. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteNo, I didn't know Braque. (Why not?) and I enjoyed looking at the painting.
ReplyDeleteThe video is interesting but very technical really. I would have liked to know more about the 'pitcher' etc.
Thanks for the painting. It is perfect for T-Day,
Belated Happy T-Day,
Lisca
