Join me in a cuppa something cozy:
and wander through my ever-growing list of "horror" movies. I hope you find something you like, whether it's a comedy, an atmospheric ghost story, a haunted house tale, or... I've quit updating episodes of TV shows since there's no end to them. I welcome recommendations for movies, especially in these days when there are so many choices. I prefer ghosts and haunted houses and avoid body horror and films featuring torture.
There are numerous lists online that can be helpful in deciding what to watch if you'd like to stick your toe in the waters. The Museum of Pop Culture has an annotated list of 100 horror films to see before you die. Rotten Tomatoes has a top 100 list. IndieWire has an annotated list of the 125 greatest horror movies of all time.
I have an all-day 1960s movie marathon planned, all films I've seen before:
The Little Shop of Horrors (1960)
The Innocents (1961)
Carnival of Souls (1962)
The Haunting (1963)
Repulsion (1965)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
I'm joining the T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth, where the price of admission is a drink reference in your blog post.

Your little tea set up is quite charming & seasonal. I know that October's Halloween sets the stage for ghost stories & I agree those tales are much more plotted & character than all the cheap bloody body parts of today's thriller themes (IMO).
ReplyDelete...not my genre.
ReplyDeleteYour autumnal display is so pretty, pumpkins are my favourite and I'm loving that little bird too 😁. Looks like you're getting your horror fix this month, I watch Beetlejuice (I'm too scared to say it three time though ...ha, ha), Adams Family and Batman Returns but I'm not sure you can call them horror 😉. Happy T Day! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteWe place Batman movies in the super hero genre, but those other 2 are definitely horror. My husband enjoys the more comedy-leaning horror, and we all especially love Addams Family anything :)
DeleteLoving your fall photo-I am not into movies with horror or violence I turned off the newest law and order that comes after the regular one last week because it began with major violence-someone biting off another's ear-a no don't need that haha. a family oriented halloween movie is more my speed. a marathon of '60s movies sounds fun
ReplyDeleteYour pumpkin looks so much better than mine. I really like your vignette and your lovely autumn inspired cup and saucer, too. Thanks for the list of movies you will watch today, as well as your adorable Halloween inspired vignette you shared with us for T this Tuesday, dear.
ReplyDeleteY'know, now that I'm trying to think of horror movies, I can't. 🎃 I do plan on watching "Arsenic and Old Lace" on Halloween since the movie takes place on that day. Your Autumn vignette is very pretty. Happy T Day
ReplyDeleteI'm not into worrying about what I'll do before I die, but I hope it doesn't include anywhere near 100 horror films! One day at a time, one film at a time.

Great list of movies. I've been trying to leave reviews for movies as I watch them.
ReplyDeleteDid I mention "The Broken" (2008) already? (And I'm with you, in that I don't like body horror / torture type movies. I wish they would give them a different category name, so people who don't like them can avoid them.)
I'm googling The Broken. Thanks! Looks like it's free on Peacock, which works for me. I've usually seen a trailer or a review before I watch a movie, so I can avoid them. I watch the old ones anyway if they're considered "must-see" or have somebody involved that I like.
Deletecute autumn vignette. I have seen some of the movies you listed and do like some horror movies including the Vincent Price ones. Happy T day!
ReplyDeleteCute tea cup. I'm not much into horror movies, but I do like mysteries if they're not too violent. The older I get the less violence I can tolerate.
ReplyDeleteAn all day movie marathon sounds fun, but I am not a horror movie girl so I would choose a different genre.
ReplyDeleteHappy Tea Day,
Kate
I didn't know there was a 1960's Little Shop of Horror version. That is probably my speed when it comes to horror films. A little scary is ok, but blood and gore aren't for me. I love how you have a 1960's day lined up. I hope it was a good one. I love your little bird too. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteThe 1960's Little Shop of Horror is a Roger Corman film and a cult classic. It was one of Jack Nicholson's early films.
Delete"The Haunting" sounds interesting. Great pic, too!
ReplyDeleteA lovely autumn tea table
ReplyDeleteI hate horror movies or anything remotely scary as the pray on my mind, my husband calls me a scaredy-cat
Happy T Day , belated
Jan
Beautiful Autumn picture, I'm not watching any horror films today, had such strange dreams yesterday! Valerie
ReplyDeleteSuper Fall set up with your cup! Very cozy. I am with you on skipping the bloody horror movies...give me a ghost every time (or a vampire, mummy, etc). Sounds like a well planned Marathon. Happy T-day!
ReplyDeleteCute pumpkins and teacup. You can't go wrong with some Dracula or Hitchcock movies I think. Happy T Day! Elle/EOTC xx
ReplyDeleteYou list of movies are some of my faves. As you know horror is my movie preference, like you though, I refrain from slasher movies. I love your yellow cup and saucer.
ReplyDeleteI do like your Autumn picture, perfect for the time of year.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Love your little decoration. I used to love Dracula films starring Christopher Lee and I remember being quite frightened by 'The Devil Rides Out'. The Raven was a rather strange film as I remember. Of the films you list 'Little Shop of Horrors' was a family favourite. Belated Happy T Day, Chrisx
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorites are Little Shop of HOrrors (both versions) and Night of the Living Dead!
