The Rodeo Murder is a 1960 Rex Stout Nero Wolfe novella. A roping contestant misses his rope and finds it wrapped around a party guest's throat. The suspects are many. This one seems a bit more talky than some, though maybe that was just my mood.
This story ends in January.
I need to make time for reading
ReplyDeleteI love to read, but I do tend to read the same kinds of books -science fiction and mysteries with some of what they call "literary fiction" thrown in.
DeleteYou've read some of these before because I have put them on my reading wish list. But I haven't gotten to them yet. There are too many books worth reading and not enough time in a day. Maybe when I retire...smile. Hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to work my way through all the Nero Wolfe books, but they can be a bit hard to find. I don't work, and that definitely gives me reading freedom lol
DeleteI have a lot of freedom to read, which I do very gladly, but haven't read any of this author's books. Valerie
ReplyDeleteI started reading these after I saw the tv series with Timothy Hutton. It's a fun series either way :)
DeleteLOL! Too talky.
ReplyDeleteA western murder mystery sounds interesting. :)
Some mysteries spend more time with exploring the suspects than with the action, and this is one of those. Still interesting, though.
Deletesounds good
ReplyDeleteI get a kick out of these characters.
DeleteSeems I remember this one. If I recall (and I could be wrong), Wolfe was lured to this party on the pretense the hostess was killing endangered birds. Seems far fetched when I read the synopsis, but that is what came to mind.
ReplyDeleteHere's the plot summary from Wikipedia: "A party at Lily Rowan's Park Avenue penthouse includes a roping contest between some cowboy friends, with a silver-trimmed saddle as the prize. One of the contestants is at a disadvantage when his rope is missing. When it is found wound more than a dozen times around the neck of the chief backer of the World Series Rodeo, Lily asks Nero Wolfe to sort out the murder." I don't remember one with endangered birds, but I still have a lot of them left to read.
DeleteWhat could be better a rodeo and a mystery to solve 😁. I love that it ends in January too! Wishing you a great day! J 😊 x
ReplyDeleteYes, I read this some time ago but scheduled it to post in January ;)
