is a 1913 painting by Albert Chevallier Tayler, who was born on April 5, 1862, and died on December 20, 1925. This painting brings together the table setting with a cup of something hot, fresh flowers, and a woman reading, which adds up to such a pleasant domestic scene. I'm drawn in. I think I'd like to sit there.

What a delightful painting. I was most impressed when I clicked for a larger photo. I think that looks like one of those old time coffee pots that were similar to tea pots, but taller and not as squat.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your tree, and loved how you put your stuffed tree on the floor. You obviously don't have cats who would play with the bows. But I have three of those stuffed trees (although I only put one out this year), one of which has no bows or ornaments. I might find a cozy spot on the floor for it next year. I have no special attachment to it, thus I didn't bother finding a spot for it this year, but next year, I might let the cats play with it at will. Thanks for putting the idea in my head.

We are currently without uncaged pets, so the floor is a safe place to decorate. We've had years where that wasn't the case lol. Marie Kondo is helping me pare down the numbers of books, but still we seem to have plenty. Thank you for the Christmas wishes. Having been an art major in school I LOVE the older masters and the scenes they painted. I used to know who painted what, but it was al so long ago that really enjoy when you bring one into the spotlight. Yes I would sit there and read too, as well as in that welcoming chair, near the books in your photo!
