Tea at the Peabody Hotel

The Peabody Hotel offers drinks in their lobby, and The Daughter and I went downtown recently, got a table next to the fountain (see the ducks swimming in the photo above?), and had Earl Grey tea:

The people-watching is wonderful! It's always fun to see the tourists get excited about the ducks. It has been said that the Mississippi Delta begins in the lobby of the Peabody Hotel. What a treat!

  1. Oh what fun! I like the presentation, the cup on a doily on a larger (than saucer) plate so the cookies and go along side. Now that's what I call having tea!

  3. I have heard of the famous ducks and what a gorgeous spot they've picked.
Nothing like silver to keep a hot beverage the perfect temperature.
Earl Grey is a fav of mine and your yummy cookies look just right too and so elegant.
Thank you for your visit to my Magpie's Nest and your kind words.
    Happy T Day to ya

  5. Another thing new to me. Ducks at The Peabody Hotel! I am in awe of the fountain with the ducks and the fun they must bring visitors and tourists. What an elegant way to spend time with your daughter. It must be fun to enjoy these trips out and about in your own city. That silver tea pot was definitely a good way to have a bit of elegance with your tea.

Sorry I'm late. I had an internet issue this morning that was finally resolved by calling my ISP. Thanks for sharing this lovely hotel and your Earl Grey tea with us for T this Tuesday,

  6. It was fun to see the ducks swimming in the fountain. I was there once with a friend and got to watch their trainer/keeper walk through the lobby to their "swimming hole". Such fun!

    1. They are standard-sized ducks. It is a large fountain. There's a photo of it with people and a close-up of the ducks at the Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peabody_Hotel It is a fun place for tea :)

  9. I am so stealing the idea of putting a teacup on a large plate like that. Very clever! What a place.

    1. It's an idea worth stealing, isn't it. The perfect size.
