The Batman

The Batman is a 2022 Batman movie. Intended to be the first in a trilogy, I sometimes wonder why they keep making movies about the same characters. The every-decade-or-so remake or re-boot, yeah, ok, fine, but how many Batman movies can the market support? That said, I watched it, didn't I, just like I've watched all the others. (I watched it On HBO Max.) I enjoyed it, I must say -though at almost 3 hours it's too long. I'm looking forward to the next in the series.

trailer:

Roger Ebert's site gives it a positive review, calling it "consistently viscerally gripping". Rotten Tomatoes has a critics consensus score of 85%, and the audience score is even higher.

    1. And they require less creative ability because they use characters with a history.

  2. I think people like the familiar, and it's all about the money!

  3. The Batman is actually a dark character that appeared during the 1930s. He is not the same Dynamic Duo, Batman and Robin.

    1. Batman evolved. The new Batman figures get darker with each incarnation.

I didn't know they were making this series again.

FYI: movie that was horror, but unusual, and I'm still undecided whether or not I liked it: Deep Dark (2015). Anne

  5. I haven't seen this year's batman, though I probably will eventually, whatever number of old ones I've seen.

  6. They make them because they make money. Words of wisdom from the Department of Redundancy department.

  7. I liked this one also. It took me awhile to get into it since (as they all are) it was pretty dark. But then it hooked me. I'm looking forward to the sequels too. Happy new week.

  9. I'm with Valerie. I saw a few of the tv series because they show them Saturday morning on a cable channel I watch, but have never seen a Batman movie.

    1. I loved the Tv series, but it's '60s camp and not really consistent with the rest of the Batman properties.
