trailer:
The New Yorker says, "“The French Dispatch” is perhaps Anderson’s best film to date. It is certainly his most accomplished." Roger Ebert's site, The Independent, and Rolling Stone each give it a positive review.
various and assorted miscellany
That looks delightfully bizarre
ReplyDeleteWes Anderson is a trip :)
DeleteI watched this. I like how Wes Anderson makes his films. I would have preferred it to be one story, but I still enjoyed it a lot. He has a great quirky style!
ReplyDeleteHe does have a distinctive style, doesn't he!
Delete...Bill Murray is the only name that I recognize.
ReplyDeleteHe and Wes Anderson make a good pair.
DeleteThat is quite the varying cast. We are considering HBO for August's release of the House of Dragons series, maybe this will still be around then for us to watch.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like HBO Max. We subscribed to watch something in particular and have kept it.
DeleteWe saw that a while back. Very amusing, especially because I have often been a New Yorker reader.
ReplyDeletebest… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
We used to subscribe to the New Yorker hard copy. It was fun to see how the film approached it.
DeleteYet another film I have never heard of! Have a good weekend, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI keep an eye out for Wes Anderson films.
DeleteI've had this on the list for "when they get it" on Netflix--LOL! Now I know I can watch it on HBO! Thanks. It is getting harder to find movies these days with so many streaming selections.
ReplyDeleteYou're right: so many different services it's hard to find things and hard to avoid adding just one more.
DeleteI like Wes Anderson, but this wasn't my favorite. I thought it was maybe 15 minutes too long, although I liked many of the segments. His cast must love working with him -- such a good ensemble. It's like watching a rep company!
ReplyDeleteI agree. This wasn't my favorite. I am impressed he can keep getting the same people to sign on.
DeleteI really like everyone in this film.
ReplyDeleteYes, well-cast.
Delete"NO CRYING" - oh, this seems to be a crazy-cool-funny movie and I love Bill Murray! And also Owen Wilson. Took a note, if I see it I buy it!
ReplyDeleteI hope you can find it :)
DeleteIt certainly sounds a good cast ...
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Yes, a great cast!
DeleteI recognized several of the cast members. It sounds like a good film. Too bad I don't have HBO max.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it'll eventually be more widely available.
