Unpregnant is a 2020 coming of age road movie. I watched it on HBO Max. from Wikipedia: "The film follows a pregnant teenager Veronica (Richardson) who discovers that she cannot get an abortion in her home state of Missouri without her parents' permission and subsequently convinces her former friend Bailey (Ferreira) to take a road trip with her to Albuquerque so she can get one there."
trailer:
The Guardian calls it "charming". Variety has a positive review. Roger Ebert says it "has a plot that could fuel a week of apoplectic segments on Fox News Channel" and "the film's solid grounding in friendship and comic teamwork carries the day". Rotten Tomatoes has a critics consensus score of 91% (meaning 91% of critics gave it a positive rating).

I canceled my HBO/Max after the Julia Child show ended in hopes they'd send me another good deal. When I get one this sounds like a good film to watch. Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMy longest watchlist is on HBO Max lol I may never get them all watches. I haven't seen the Julia Child show.
Delete...this story will be played out more and more!
ReplyDeleteOnly now, there may not be anywhere to go :(
DeleteI watched Never Rarely Sometimes Always
ReplyDeleteThis one has a different tone.
DeleteAdded to my watchlist. Thanks. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it :)
DeleteSounds good! Valerie
ReplyDeleteI thought so :)
DeleteMO has been like that for years. Now it's even worse. It won't get any better either, especially if you live in the bible belt. I always said MO is the buckle of the bible belt!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was Tennessee :( They're trying to shut down public schools here in favor of charter schools run by Christian conservatives. It's scary!
DeleteI had a friend who was a teacher in MO. He told me he was required to pray every day in first period in the classroom with his students. He said he had to agree with school policies of teaching creationism or intelligent design in a positive light in order to be hired. He needed a job, so he did what he was told. This was 2013, and I doubt things have improved any. Sadly, he died later that year, mainly from stress, I believe, although it was recorded as a heart attack. He was 42 at the time of his death.
DeleteThat's a sad story :( Even here in the South in Memphis, things weren't that bad. In private church-related schools yes, but public schools were different.
DeleteA timely subject.
ReplyDeleteSadly, yes.
