French Dispatch

French Dispatch is a 2021 Wes Anderson film starring Benicio del Toro, Adrien Brody, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Edward Norton, Jason Schwartzman, and Anjelica Huston. I am a Wes Anderson fan, and I was excited to see this. I watched it on HBO Max.

trailer:

The New Yorker says, "“The French Dispatch” is perhaps Anderson’s best film to date. It is certainly his most accomplished." Roger Ebert's site, The Independent, and Rolling Stone each give it a positive review.

  2. I watched this. I like how Wes Anderson makes his films. I would have preferred it to be one story, but I still enjoyed it a lot. He has a great quirky style!

  4. That is quite the varying cast. We are considering HBO for August's release of the House of Dragons series, maybe this will still be around then for us to watch.

We saw that a while back. Very amusing, especially because I have often been a New Yorker reader.

  7. I've had this on the list for "when they get it" on Netflix--LOL! Now I know I can watch it on HBO! Thanks. It is getting harder to find movies these days with so many streaming selections.

    1. You're right: so many different services it's hard to find things and hard to avoid adding just one more.

  8. I like Wes Anderson, but this wasn't my favorite. I thought it was maybe 15 minutes too long, although I liked many of the segments. His cast must love working with him -- such a good ensemble. It's like watching a rep company!

  10. "NO CRYING" - oh, this seems to be a crazy-cool-funny movie and I love Bill Murray! And also Owen Wilson. Took a note, if I see it I buy it!
