Automat

Automat:

by Edward Hopper, who died at the age of 84 on May 15, 1967. I offer this for the weekly T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering, where we share a cuppa. This woman is enjoying a cup of coffee alone in an automat. I've never known of such a place, but I'm having a cup of coffee alone at home. I feel a certain kinship with her, lost in her thoughts as she is.

Please post something drink related and join us at the T Stands for Tuesday blogger gathering.

  3. I read a story as a kid that had an automat as a setting. I had no clue what it was and always disappointed I never saw one. Unless you count vending machines. Happy T Day

  4. ...I've never been to an automat, but I remember hearing of them. Edward Hopper was among the great artists.

  5. I knew this was a Hopper as soon as I saw the little icon. His work was so very authentic and he has a very distinct style that can't be confused with any other artist. Thank you for sharing this incredible painting with us for T this Tuesday, dear friend. Please don't forget to link to T.

  13. Beautiful painting. If automats are laundrymats they are kind of lonely places except the one I visited in Albuquerque that served beer and featured good movies - lol. Lovely post. Happy T-day and hugz
