Twelfth Night is a 1986 adaptation of the Shakespeare play. Geoffrey Rush is the name most familar to me. He plays Sir Andrew Aguecheek.

I admit I didn't finish this one. It can be hard to watch yet another adaptation of a story you've already seen several times. Your mileage, as they say, may vary.

...my mileage would be short!
ReplyDeletelol
DeleteI don't know who Geoffrey Rush is.
ReplyDeleteHe's been around since the 70s but is probably best known as Captain Barbossa from the Pirates of the Caribbean.

Over his career he has also received three British Academy Film Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and four Screen Actors Guild Awards. Rush received his Oscar for his performance in Shine in 1996. He has received three other nominations for his roles in Shakespeare in Love (1998), Quills (2000), and The King's Speech (2010). For his work in television he received the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Actor in a Limited Series or Television Movie for his performance as Peter Sellers in The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2003). It looks interesting as they are in modern clothing. Do they speak in Shakespeare's middle English too?
ReplyDeleteYes, the language is Shakespeare's.
DeleteIt looks like an interesting interpretation and a lively one but sometimes enough is enough. It was fun to look at the credits though and spot John Wood as well. And Geoffrey Rush was pretty cute at that age!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't've recognized Rush lol
DeleteYeah difficult for me to get through this one.
ReplyDeleteMaybe in a few more years...
DeleteI'll pass as I don't have 2 hours to watch this. Thanks anyway.
ReplyDeleteI'd planned to watch it but I think it's been too recently I've seen another adaptation of this play.
DeleteGeoffrey Rush is a fabulous actor and he looks so young in this 😁. I can see why you didn't finish watching this one, I couldn't get into this film either. Take care and happy wishes! Hugs Jo x
ReplyDeleteHe has made a real name for himself, not just in film. I love being able to see filmed plays.
