Jamaica Inn is a 1939 Alfred Hitchcock film based on the Daohne duMaurier book by the same name. It stars Charles Laughton and Maureen O'Hara. You can watch it free on Tubi or via YouTube below.
Eye for Film calls it "an entertaining and surprisingly dark period drama."

Oooh, never heard of this one. I like Daphne Du Maurier, too.
ReplyDeleteoops, I have a typo up there lol
Delete...I love a Jamaican accent.
ReplyDeleteYou won't find one here ;)
DeleteI wonder if I've ever watched a film with Maureen O'Hara. "The Quiet Man" has been on my list since I visited the pub in Ireland where it was filmed (or maybe where it was set or something). An Alfred Hitcock one sounds very appealing too.
ReplyDeletebest... mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Ones many people have seen are How Green Was My Valley, Miracle on 34th Street, Rio Grande, The Parent Trap, and McLintock.
DeleteCan't beat duMaurier, Hitchcock, Laughton and O'Hara!
ReplyDeleteikr?!
DeleteI loved this film and will enjoy watching it again! Valerie

I hadn't seen it either.
DeleteI'm definitely watching this one. I love anything Hitchcock directs.
ReplyDeleteI hope you like it.
DeleteI tried. Watched a good third of it and couldn't get into it despite some good actors. Didn't seem like any other Alfred Hitchcock movie I have watched. Felt jerky and disjointed...or maybe it's my lack of focus? LOL! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's not Hitchcock's best. And I was disappointed in Laughton. He seemed over the top to me.
DeleteYes, it was just off somehow in many little ways.
ReplyDeleteIt's nice to know that even The Greats don't always hit 'em out of the park ;)
